About Chalet Chocolat...
Enjoy the best of indoor and outdoor living from this beautiful chalet, conveniently set between the charming village of Manigod and the family-friendly station at La Croix Fry.
Picture windows on three sides of the open-plan living area mean it is filled with light from morning to evening, and a wraparound balcony and huge terraces, complete with a hot tub, sofas and dining furniture, mean you won’t miss a minute of the sunshine, whatever the season.
If the weather keeps you inside, there's a TV and games room with books, a pool table as well as table football - there's never a dull moment at Chalet Chocolat.
It's an ideal place for two families or a group of friends to enjoy an unforgettable holiday in the stunning La Clusaz region.
Larger groups of up to 23 can book Chalet Chocolat together with Chalet Parakima, which sleeps 15.
The property...
Chalet Chocolat is a three-storey chalet for eight guests, with four bedrooms and three bath/shower rooms.
You'll find the first of the bedrooms on the ground floor - a spacious double with a shower room and dressing area, as well as a door to the garden. The TV and games room is also on this floor - get together on the sofa to watch a film, take your pick of the books or board games, or shoot some pool with friends. There's also a useful laundry room, WC and the garage with a ski store and boot rack.
There are three more bedrooms on the top floor - a spacious double room with a shower, wash basin and access to the balcony; a twin room with access to the balcony and a third room that can be arranged with a large double or two twin beds. There's also a large bathroom and a separate WC.
The first floor is taken up by the spacious, open-plan living area. With a cosy sofa and chairs around the log fire, you won’t feel the chill whatever the weather, and there’s room for everyone to eat together at the large dining table. The kitchen has everything you need to cook up a delicious meal, or you could just grab a snack at the breakfast bar before you head out for the day.
But when the weather is fine, there's no better place to be than outside - with two terraces connected by a balcony, there's room to soak in the hot tub, enjoy a barbecue, get together in the seating area or relax with a book in the sunshine.
There's plenty of room to park outside Chalet Chocolat, as well as a garage and a charging point for electric cars.
About the area...
With the ski bus stopping almost outside Chalet Chocolat you’ve got the whole of the La Clusaz/Le Grand Bornand ski area at your disposal.
Winter equipment can be hired in Manigod, and there’s a handy ski store at the chalet. Floodlights on some of the pistes mean you can ski until 1am in La Clusaz, on certain dates throughout the year, and the weekly torchlit descent is an experience you’ll never forget.
Cross-country skiers will find plenty of trails to choose from, and non-skiers are not forgotten, with a heated indoor/outdoor swimming pool, ice-skating rink and cinema, as well as sledging, snow-shoe walking, dog-sledding and horse-drawn sleigh rides.
For the ultimate in winter fun, try paragliding on skis or ski joering – skiing while towed by a horse!
In the summer, you’ll want to spend all your time on the beautiful terraces at Chalet Chocolat, and with a hot tub, comfortable sofas, sun beds, a large dining table and a gas barbecue, there’s no reason to leave!
But if you can tear yourself away, you’ll find plenty to do in the La Clusaz region. There’s no shortage of walks, from mountain trails to hiking on the Glières plateau, the scene of the Resistance’s campaign during World War II.
Adrenalin junkies can try paragliding, canyoning, climbing, mountain-biking or white-water rafting - just some of the activities on offer within a few miles of Manigod. Via ferrata is a great family day out, with children as young as eight able to explore the mountains on iron walkways, secured to a harness.
Less than an hour from Geneva, and just 30 minutes from the beautiful lakeside town of Annecy, Chalet Chocolat is the perfect year-round base from which to explore the region.

The OVO Network Review
Chalet Chocolat is a 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom chalet for 8 spread over 3 floors, and 170m2 of floor space.
With floor to ceiling windows all around the main living floor, the views, scenery, and weather are as much a part of the internal landscape of the chalet as the furniture!
Chalet Chocolat is popular with OVO Network guests, who appreciate in particular the comfort, the decor, the views, and the proximity to Manigod village, the ski fields, and La Clusaz.
There are two large terraces - one with a hot tub and the other with a dining table, lounge area, barbecue and breathtaking views.
Chalet Chocolat is situated just off the road between Manigod village and the pistes at La Croix Fry, so the road is always kept clear of snow. And if you'd rather not use your car, the ski bus stops just outside.
Parking is in the garage or in front of the chalet. The neighbours share the same drive to reach Chalet Parakima, another OVO Network partner property.
If you are looking to spend time in Manigod as part of a large group, why not book both chalets?

From the owner
Olivier & Stéphanie
“We were immediately drawn to the chalet’s incredible views and fell in love with its location and stylish modern interiors. Having looked at a huge number of chalets, what sets Chalet Chocolat apart for us are its floor to ceiling windows which fill the living spaces with sunlight and, more importantly, provide 180-degree views across the mountain from every angle.
This means that the chalet has all the advantages of a traditional chalet while also being bright, modern and spacious. The location is superb, situated within walking distance of the village, for morning bread and croissants or an afternoon beer. In winter we spend our holidays skiing.
The views of the Manigod valley are spectacular with uninterrupted views of La Sulens and La Tournette, which seem to change every day.
Although the ski bus stops at the end of the drive we normally just jump into the car for the short drive to the slopes, as the parking is so easy at Col de la Croix Fry. The Manigod ski area is an excellent place for family skiing, with a ski school and slopes for all standards.
We typically drop the children off at the Ecole de Ski and then ski in either the Manigod/Merdassier areas or ski down into La Clusaz from where we can goup to L’Aiguille or over to Col de Balme. After a morning spent skiing we’ll meet up with the children for lunch with friends on the slopes, U Freddy at the Etale lift is a particular favourite but there is a huge choice of high quality mountain eateries.
After lunch we’ll spend another couple of hours skiing together before returning to the chalet for vin chaud on the terrace.
Although Manigod is an excellent location for a skiing holiday, we first discovered the area in the summer, when we were staying in a nearby valley. The amazing range of summer activities were what really sold the area, and Manigod in particular, to us.
We couldn’t believe that one area could offer such a variety of things to do, from tennis and golf to horse riding and mountain biking. Once we saw Lake Annecy we were hooked! In summer, we spend time walking the many mountain trails.
Walking in Croix Fry up to Beauregard offers amazing views of Mont Blanc – indeed any of the mountains near the chalet give views of the great peak. The cycling is varied from mountain to road biking.
We enjoy cycling the iconic Tour de France climbs (Col des Aravis, Col de la Forclaz and the Col de la Colombiere) and are waiting until our children are old enough to start mountain biking with us. Our current favourite summer activity is visiting the “beaches” (grassy areas on the shore for bathing, patrolled by lifeguards and offering pedalos, canoes and motor launches for hire) of Lake Annecy.
We especially like to take a boat out from Talloires into the lake, which allows swimming in a tranquil location with amazing views up into the high Alps. For something less tranquil the children love to take part in the many summer activities that La Clusaz has to offer (ice skating, summer luge and horse riding to name but a few), while we all love climbing in the Aravis Park of Adventures in Thones.
We enjoy buying the local produce.
The farm across the road makes beautiful Reblochon and Tomme cheeses while local goat and ewes’ cheeses are available from other farms on the mountain.
A local market can be found on most days of the week to stock up on meats, cheese and fruits and vegetables. For more sophisticated shopping Annecy is a short drive away.
We love the fact that there are so many high quality places to eat in the area, which range from everyday Savoyard to Michelin starred restaurants. We always take friends to La Ferme on the road into La Clusaz as nothing beats their top quality traditional meals in a fantastic setting.
They certainly serve up food that we would never experience in England! As a treat, we can think of nothing better than to book a table at Yoann Conte, on the shore of Lake Annecy – this matches anything on offer in London or New York and is for us is one of the best restaurants in the world right now. Chalet Chocolat is our home away from home and we have chosen to rent it out as we would like it to be enjoyed when we cannot be there.
We hope that it is as relaxing for you as it for us and that you enjoy everything that the area has to offer.

“Unforgettable mountain retreat”
We stayed 10 days in this chalet. We enjoyed our stay. Everything is done to have an unforgettable time. The view is magnificent. The chalet is very well equipped. Thanks to Corinne for her welcome and her ability to find solutions during the stay. See you soon
“Everything was perfect”
Magnificient chalet! Everything was perfect.
“Family fun in the mountains”
We had a great family vacation at the chocolate chalet. It is very beautiful, the main room is spacious and bright with a sofa big enough to accommodate the whole family. A nice TV and games room that the children enjoyed a lot, the adults had fun playing billiards and finally the jacuzzi that was greatly appreciated by everyone, made us forget about the uncertain weather. And let's not forget the view! Sublime on the mountains and the valley. We will be back!
