About Chalet Morris...
This beautiful two-storey chalet for 13 is in Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval, named as one of France's Most Beautiful Villages.
It's a great choice for a group of friends or family looking for easy access to the mountains without the hustle and bustle of larger resorts. The chalet is near the village's beginners area, and the shuttle bus, which stops just 100m from the door, will take you to the Grand Massif gondola in Samoëns in just 10 minutes. There is just as much to discover outside the ski season, with wonderful walks and cycles, as well as climbing, watersports and much more.
The chalet is just a 5-minute walk from the centre of the village, where you will find a selection of shops, bars and restaurants. There are more to be found in Samoëns, which also has a market on Wednesday mornings.
About the property...
Chalet Morris sleeps up to 13 guests (11 adults) in five bedrooms with three bath/shower rooms.
You'll enter on the ground floor, and will find yourself in the spacious, open-plan living area. There's a fully-equipped kitchen, with a dishwasher, hob, double oven and breakfast bar, and a dining table. The relaxing seating and TV area, which has two sofas and a rocking chair, is flooded with light, thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows and doors to the terrace. A woodburning stove separates the seating area from the dining area, keeping the whole space cosy in the winter.
There's also a laundry room on this floor with a washing machine and dryer, as well as a ski room and a WC with a handbasin.
There are five bedrooms on the first floor. The main bedroom has a large double bed and an en-suite shower room and WC. There are two double bedrooms with large double beds, and another with a double and single bed. The fifth bedroom is a delightful room designed for children, with two sets of bunk beds. This floor also has a shower room and a bathroom, both with WCs.
There is a small garden and parking for several cars outside the chalet.
About the area...
Nestled in the heart of the French Alps, the traditional village of Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval and the Sixt Passy Nature Reserve is a wonderful place to discover nature, stunning scenery and a more traditional pace of life. But it’s also part of the vast Grand Massif ski domain, which includes the resorts of Flaine, Samoëns, Morillon and Les Carroz, all of which are connected by shuttle bus during the season. Between them, they offer 265km of pistes, a great lift network and regular and abundant snowfall.
There are three jam parks for freestylers, with plenty of challenges at every level.
Beginners have their own area at 1600m, which is separated from the main slopes, so novice skiers can ski safely. There’s a restaurant too, so that parents can relax while their children enjoy their lessons. And when they are ready to hit the slopes, the Marvel piste offers a gentle 5km run through an ancient forest.
Cross-country skiers will find plenty of choice too — enjoy the trails around Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval or head for the Col de Joux Plane, where the altitude of 1700m means you can expect great snow all season, as well as breathtaking panoramic views of Mont Blanc.
There’s just as much to do, if not more, outside the ski season. Walkers and hikers can explore the Cirque du Fer-à-Cheval and the many local waterfalls, such as the Cascade du Rouget. The Giffre river runs through the village, providing opportunities for fishing, rafting and picnics. The more adventurous can try rock-climbing and canyoning locally.
Mountain bikers will find a range of trails, from easy routes suitable for families to more challenging paths for the more experienced. Road cyclists looking for a challenge can explore the Col de Joux Plane and the Col de Ramaz.
