Chalet Pativerdan ...
This comfortable chalet for 10 guests is in a quiet residential road just 2km from the centre of Samoens, in the Grand Massif ski area.
When you stay here you'll be just a 1km drive from the lifts, which actually pass Chalet Pativerdan on their way up to the top of the slopes.
The beautiful village of Samoens is a favourite with skiers looking for a lunch stop - there are some popular restaurants and bars clustered around the pretty, traffic-free square. There are also delis, supermarkets and bakeries, as well as ski and bike rental, so you will be able to get everything you need for your holiday.
And at the end of an active day in the mountains, return to Chalet Pativerdan, where you can relax and enjoy the wonderful from the hot tub.
About the property ...
This beautiful chalet sleeps 10 guests in four bedrooms with three bathrooms. The accommodation set over two floors of the chalet, plus a mezzanine playroom.
The guest entrance on the ground floor opens in to a small hallway, and then into the beautiful living area. The well-equipped kitchen is separated from the dining area by a breakfast bar, where you can grab a snack or keep the cook company. The large dining table, which has room for everyone to eat together, is positioned in front of the doors to the beautiful covered terrace - you can eat out here in good weather, or just enjoy the stunning mountain views from the hot tub.
A double-sided fireplace separates the dining area from the cosy double-height sitting room - it's the perfect place to gather for a cosy chat after dinner, or perhaps to curl up with a book. There are two bedrooms on this floor, both of which have an ensuite shower room. One has a double bed, whereas the other has a queen bed and a useful dressing area.
There are two more bedrooms on the upper floor - one with a double bed which can be arranged as two single beds, and a dormitory bedroom with four single beds (these can also be arranged as two double beds). These rooms share a bathroom with a bath and WC.
Stairs lead up from this floor to a mezzanine room play room, which children and adults will appreciate! There is comfy seating around the TV, as well as table football, board games and a play table and desk for children. There's also a sofa bed for two extra guests, should you need it. This room also has doors onto a balcony, which has possibly the best views of the chalet!
There are three parking spaces outside the chalet. The chalet owner, Thomas, lives in the apartment on the lower ground floor.
About the area ...
Whatever time of year you decide to visit the beautiful Grand Massif and the Giffre valley, there's always plenty going on.
Samoens is one of five ski resorts in the Grand Massif domaine, along with Flaines, Les Carroz, Morillon and Sixt. Together they have 139 slopes and 62 ski lifts, so there's plenty to suit all ages and abilities.
Samoens has a delightful square where you can enjoy a long lazy lunch in the summer, or just grab a coffee and watch the world go by. Many skiers also stop in Samoens for lunch, before heading back up into the mountains.
In the summer, there's great hiking and biking in the mountains, as well as watersports on the Giffre river. The Lac Bleu leisure area, an easy walk from Chalet Pativerdan, is a great day out for families - there's a beach area for swimming as well as horse-riding, treetop adventure area, Segway, electric skateboards and much more. Youngsters can enjoy the pump track, play areas, inflatables and trampolines, and trout fishing is free for those staying in the area.
The village of Sixt-Fer-a-Cheval, less than 20 minutes drive away, is also worth a visit - one of the most beautiful villages in France, it's set in a natural amphitheatre of high limestone cliffs. It's also the start of some great white-water rafting and home to a via ferrata course.

The OVO Network Review
Chalet Pativerdan is a beautiful chalet for 10, with four bedrooms and three bathrooms. It's set in a quiet road, with few neighbours, and is surrounded by farmland, which will particularly appeal to younger guests.
The chalet is 2km from the ski lifts and Samoens, and just a little further to the village itself. There's a great selection of bars and restaurants, and in the summer, the central square is a lovely place to relax with a coffee or a glass of wine.
The chalet has four bedrooms - two doubles on the lower floor, and on the upper floor you'll find a double bedroom and another which sleeps four. These two share a bathroom and the beds can be arranged as doubles or twins, making for very flexible sleeping arrangements.
There's also a super playroom with a TV on the mezzanine floor, making it a great family area. There's a sofa bed in the playroom too, should you need extra space.
The living room is a great place to relax after an action-packed day in the mountains - light floods in through the double height windows and there's a covered terrace with seating and a hot tub. There's plenty of space in the kitchen for a couple of chefs to share the cooking, and a great breakfast bar for kids' suppers.
The dining area is separated from the living area by a central fireplace, keeping both sides cosy!
As well as great skiing, the area also offers wonderful walking and biking, with trails passing right behind the chalet. Add to this the watersports on the river Giffre, and swimming in nearby lakes, and you've got a great year-round destination!

From the owner
Thomas
I moved to the Giffre valley from Lorraine in 2002, to pursue my career as a physiotherapist and osteopath.
Chalet Pativerdan, a former farmhouse in the hamlet of Les Rots, is the result of a decade of work. I hope you will appreciate the choice and quality of the materials used.
The light fills the house every day, it travels through the living rooms, which have a breathtaking view of the mythical summit of Samoëns: Le Criou.
You will appreciate the calm and silence of this hamlet, it's like a gentle break in your life. Animal lovers of all ages will be enchanted by the surrounding farms (cowshed, sheepfold and stables).
The location of the Chalet Pativerdan is unique. In winter, it is a one-minute drive from the ski lifts and in summer the chalet is 50m from the mountain bike trails and hiking paths such as the "Lac de Gers".
We wish you a pleasant stay.

“Beautiful and peaceful setting”
Beautiful and peaceful setting just away from the hubbub of the pretty, tourist town of Samoens. lots to do nearby walking, cycling, paragliding, rafting and more. we'll be back but will look for another property. however some downsides. unfortunately, WiFi was not working and minor things listed but missing despite asking: Iron and Shampoo. Hot tub drips on to tenant below as there is no waterproofing on the floor, so be prepared for them to complain if you use it.
“A good stay”
The property is located in a nice village in the middle of the mountains. We enjoyed the quietness and the view.
“Very pleasant chalet and setting”
