Chalet Nahuel Huapi...
This beautiful chalet for 12 (8 adults) is located in a quiet, residential area, just a short walk from the centre of Samoëns.
As part of the Grand Massif ski area, Samoëns has links to more than 265km of pistes and a great lifts network. There's still plenty to do when the snow melts, with a range of scenic hiking and biking trails, as well as a treetop adventure park, whitewater rafting and a range of sports facilities at the Lac aux Dames leisure centre.
There's a good choice of bars and restaurants in the traffic-free centre of the village, where narrow streets lead off the main square with its traditional church and fountain. A free bus runs every 20 minutes in the high season, and stops just 150m from the chalet. It will take you into the village and on to the pistes at Morillon and Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval.
The village has all the shops you are likely to need during your holiday — delis, supermarkets and bakeries, as well as gift shops, ski and bike rental.
About the property...
Chalet Nahuel Huapi is a three-storey chalet for up to 12 guests, with five bedrooms and four bath/shower rooms.
On the ground floor, you'll find an open-plan living area. The fully-equipped kitchen has a fridge/freezer, oven, microwave and dishwasher, and there is a separate laundry room with a washing machine. There's plenty of room for everyone to eat at the dining table, and after dinner you can gather on the cosy sofas and chairs around the woodburning stove to chat about your day or perhaps watch a film.
The first of the bedrooms is on this floor — it's a double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom. There's also a separate shower room and a WC, and a ski room with a heated boot rack.
Take the stairs up to a galleried landing overlooking the living room, with table football and views of the mountains. There are three more bedrooms off the landing, all of which have large double beds (180cm) which can be arranged as twin beds (90cm). One of these bedrooms has an en-suite shower room and another has an en-suite bathroom.
The fifth bedroom is on the top floor, under the eaves. Designed with children in mind, it has four single beds, which can also be arranged as doubles, or as one double and two singles, making it a great family suite.
Chalet Nahuel Huapi has two terraces and a garden, all with breathtaking mountain views. There is also a garage and parking.
About the area...
Whatever time of year you choose to visit, there's always plenty to discover when you stay at Chalet Nahuel Huapi in Samoëns.
The ski lifts in the village connect with the Grand Massif resorts of Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval, Flaine and Les Carroz, giving you easy access to 265km of great skiing, with plenty of challenges for all abilities. Snowfall is regular and abundant, and there are three jam parks for freestylers.
In the summer, there's great hiking and biking in the mountains, as well as watersports on the Giffre river. The Lac Bleu leisure area (6.5km) is a great day out for families — there's a beach area for swimming as well as horse-riding, a treetop adventure area, Segway, electric skateboards and much more. Youngsters can enjoy the pump track, play areas, inflatables and trampolines, and trout fishing is free for those staying in the area.
The village of Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval, just a few minutes drive away (6km), is worth a visit — said to be one of the most beautiful villages in France, it's set in a natural amphitheatre of high limestone cliffs. It's also the start of some great white-water rafting and home to a via ferrata course.
Those who like gardening should pay a visit to the Jaysinia Alpine Gardens, which features plants from mountainous regions across the world.

This chalet is a great choice for a group of friends or family who want to get out and explore this beautiful area — the ski bus stops just 150m from the chalet and it's just a five-minute walk into the village and the main ski lift, so there's no need to use your car if you'd prefer not to.
Beds that can be arranged as large doubles or twin beds make for very flexible sleeping arrangements, and three of the bedrooms have en-suite bath/shower rooms, making this a perfect choice for families with children or for a group of friends.
Children will love the four-bed room under the eaves, but this can also be arranged with a double bed, making it ideal for a family with small children.
