In the evening, eat on your sunny terrace, or perhaps dine out at one of the restaurants around the pretty, traffic-free square in Samoëns.

The village has all the shops you are likely to need during your holiday – delis, butchers and bakeries, as well as gift shops, ski and bike rental, and there's a large supermarket just 2.4km from the chalet.

About the property...

The two-storey Chalet Lezopau sleeps up to 11 guests and a baby in four bedrooms and three bathrooms.

As you enter on the ground floor, you'll find plenty of storage for your outdoor clothes and a WC. A door to the garage also takes you to the ski room with a heated boot rack and plenty of storage for bikes.

The open-plan living area has a fully-equipped kitchen with a breakfast bar where you can grab a snack before you head out for the day. You'll have everything you need to cook up a delicious meal in the evening, and there's plenty of room at the large dining table for everyone to eat together. There's another dining table on the terrace, where you can enjoy a barbecue in good weather or just soak up the views from the nordic bath. Alternatively, you could challenge your friends to pétanque in the garden.

Back inside, there's a cosy seating area with a large three-sided sofa in front of the fire, where you can gather to watch a film on the televisions (Netflix is available).

There's a double bedroom on this floor with an en-suite shower room and doors onto the terrace, where you can wake up with a coffee and some fresh mountain air.

Upstairs, there are three more bedrooms. The two double bedrooms both have access to the balcony. One of them has a desk area and the other has an en-suite shower room with a WC. There's a separate shower room, a WC and another bedroom with two sets of bunk beds (one of the bunk bed includes 3 beds). All of the bedrooms have televisions and Starlink high-speed Wi-Fi is available throughout the chalet.

There is parking for several cars outside the chalet and room for another one in the garage.

About the area...

Whatever time of year you visit Chalet Lezopau, you'll never be short of something to do.

The ski lifts in Samoëns connect with the Grand Massif resorts of Sixt, Flaine and Les Carroz, giving you easy access to 265km of great skiing, with plenty of challenges for all abilities. Snowfall is regular and abundant, and there are three jam parks for freestylers.

Outside the ski season, there's great hiking and biking in the mountains, as well as watersports on the Giffre river. The Lac aux Dames leisure area (3.3km) is a great day out for families – there's an outdoor swimming pool as well as a playground and sports field, tennis, paragliding, bowling and some lovely family walks. Further afield, the Lac Bleu has a swimming area well as horse-riding, a treetop adventure area, Segway, electric skateboards and much more. Youngsters can enjoy the pump track, play areas, inflatables and trampolines, and trout fishing is free for those staying in the area.

The village of Sixt-Fer-a-Cheval, less than 10 minutes drive away (7km), is worth a visit – said to be one of the most beautiful villages in France, it's set in a natural amphitheatre of high limestone cliffs. It's also the start of some great white-water rafting and home to a via ferrata course.

Those who like gardening should pay a visit to the Jaÿsinia Alpine Gardens, which is open all year round and features plants from mountainous regions across the world.
