Chalet Les Pellys...
Set among pine forests and Alpine pastures, it's hard to believe that this peaceful mountain chalet for 15 guests is just a couple of minutes from the ski lifts and 7km from the pretty village of Samoëns.
With two living rooms, four family suites and two bedrooms, it's an ideal choice for a group of families who want to get away from it all, and for groups of friends who want to explore the Grand Massif, either on skis, bikes or on foot. And if you'd rather just relax and enjoy the solitude and mountain air, you can often hear the deer from the hot tub!
At the end of an exhilarating day, you can get together to watch a film in the cinema/games room while the children enjoy table football or board games, or enjoy the spectacular views from the covered terrace.
The historic village of Samoëns is a favourite with skiers looking for a lunch stop – there are some popular restaurants and bars clustered around the pretty, traffic-free square. There are also delis, supermarkets and bakeries, as well as ski and bike rental, so you will be able to get everything you need for your holiday.
Please note: the owners of Chalet Les Pellys keep an apartment for themselves for the occasional visit, so you may sometimes pass them at the main door.
About the property...
The spacious accommodation at Chalet Les Pellys is set over three floors.
The main entrance is on the ground floor – there is a ski room, a WC and a wonderful games room, with table football, board games and a large video screen where you can get together to watch a film. The rest of the floor is an apartment reserved for the owners' occasional visits.
Take the stairs up to the first floor and into the living and dining area, where two large sofas are positioned in front of the enclosed log fire. There's a large dining table with bench seating, so that everyone can sit down and eat together. A door leads to the garden terrace, where you can laze in the hot tub and enjoy the spectacular views of the slopes.
The separate kitchen has everything you need to cater for a large crowd, including two ovens, two dishwashers and two fridges. There's a door to a rear covered terrace, which is furnished with a dining table and chairs and has panoramic views of mountains and forests.
There are two bedrooms on this floor, one with a double bed and another with two single beds. Both rooms have an en-suite shower room with WC. There's also a laundry room with a washing machine and dryer, and a separate WC.
There are four family suites on the top floor, all of which have en-suite shower rooms. The first has a double bed and three single beds, and plenty of space for children to play. The next two each have a double bed and two single beds, and the final room has a double bed and two single beds. Two of the bedrooms have garden views and the others have balconies.
Chalet Les Pellys has a large sloping garden which makes a great sledge run in the winter. There's parking for up to six cars, and an electrical socket for charging cars.
The chalet is connected to super-fast and reliable Starling Wi-Fi.
About the area...
Whatever time of year you decide to visit the beautiful Grand Massif and the Giffre valley, there's always plenty going on.
Samoëns is one of five ski resorts in the Grand Massif domaine, along with Flaine, Les Carroz, Morillon and Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval. Together they have 139 slopes and 62 ski lifts, so there's plenty to suit all ages and abilities.
Samoëns has a delightful square where you can enjoy a long lazy lunch in the summer, or just grab a coffee and watch the world go by. Many skiers also stop in Samoëns for lunch, before heading back up into the mountains.
In the summer, there's great hiking and biking in the mountains, as well as watersports on the Giffre river. The Lac Bleu leisure area in Samoëns is a great day out for families – there's a beach area for swimming as well as horse-riding, treetop adventure area, Segway, electric skateboards and much more. Youngsters can enjoy the pump track, play areas, inflatables and trampolines, and trout fishing is free for those staying in the area.
The village of Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval, less than 20 minutes drive away, is also worth a visit – one of the most beautiful villages in France, it's set in a natural amphitheatre of high limestone cliffs. It's also the start of some great white-water rafting and home to a via ferrata course.

The OVO Network Review
Chalet Les Pellys is a three-storey chalet for up to 15 guests, with six bedrooms, each with an en-suite shower room.
Set in a spectacular location in the mountains, 500m above the village of Samoëns, it's just a short drive to the Samoëns 1600 ski station. The comfortable living/dining room opens onto a terrace with breathtaking views of the forest and mountains, perhaps best enjoyed from the hot tub.
The separate kitchen, which has two dishwashers, two ovens and two fridges, has its own terrace with a dining table and chairs.
The layout of the bedrooms means a group of families travelling together can all have their own space, with four family suites on the top floor and two separate rooms on the first floor. And with a games/cinema room as well as the main living room, there's plenty of room for everyone to get together in the evenings.
Enjoy a film, a chat around the fire or perhaps a little star-gazing from the hot tub – the choice is yours.
The chalet also has a large sloping garden, which makes a great sledge run in the winter.
Samoëns is a popular village with visitors all year round – skiers often make it their lunch stop during a day on the pistes, and in warmer weather the pavement cafes around the central square are a delightful place for a leisurely lunch.

From the owner
Anne-Claire & Charles
We spent a long time looking for our little family paradise, which had to be in the heart of nature but also just five minutes from the slopes and very close to a very pretty village!
This old farmhouse won our hearts straight away. Its open spaces gave us the chance to spend some magical moments with family and friends, and with two lounges, two terraces and bathrooms in every room, even 15 people can really relax! And for those of us who love to cook, we've designed a large table to host our big dinner parties.
Our three boys love to escape into the woods before coming back to read by the fire, take a dip in the hot tub, play board games or table football, enjoy Switch on the cinema screen or end the day watching a good film.
As for us, we love contemplating the mountains and the fir trees, reading on the sunny terrace, going for long walks from the chalet, taking advantage of all the activities the mountains have to offer (rafting, canyoning, via ferrata, mountain biking, skiing...) and coming home to spend a good evening with friends in our home that we wish we'd never have to leave!
We wish you an excellent, relaxing and sporting holiday.
