There’s a free shuttle bus every 20 minutes during the season, which will take you to the pistes at Morillon and Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval. Part of the Grand Massif ski area, Samoëns has links to more than 265km of pistes and a great lift network.

About the property …

Built over three floors, Chalet Aymon has room for up to 10 people, with 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. There’s a large garden and a terrace, which provide a wonderful view of the Giffre mountains.

The first room you’ll find when entering is a cosy living room with a sofa, armchairs and a TV. There's also a shower room with a washing machine and dryer where you can leave all of your outdoor clothing.

Move into a large, open-plan living area, which is full of light, thanks to three doors leading to the furnished terrace. A breakfast bar separates a sitting area, with several cosy armchairs, a wood-burning stove and a big dining table, from the modern kitchen, which has all the equipment you might need during your stay. It includes an oven, a large fridge and freezer, a dishwasher and a coffee machine.

There are 3 bedrooms on the first floor: 2 double rooms with queen size beds, and a dormitory with 2 sets of bunk beds, ideal for 4 children. Another living area contains table football, board games and a table, as well as a small kitchen with an oven, a refrigerator and a coffee machine. A wide door lets in light, opening onto a sunny balcony.

There are also 2 shower rooms on this floor. One of them is right next to the sauna, the perfect place to soothe your muscles after a day in the mountains.

The last floor is built under the eaves and includes a spacious bedroom with twin beds, and a shower room. The use of wood on this floor makes for a cosy atmosphere, which reflects Chalet Aymon's Alpine setting.

Two parking spaces are available outside the property in milder weather. However, these spaces are not available in winter, but guests can use a car park 100m from the chalet.

About the area …

Whether you're visiting in summer or winter, you'll never be short of something to do at Chalet Aymon, located only 7km from Samoëns.

The ski lifts connect with the Grand Massif resorts of Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval, Flaine and Les Carroz, giving you easy access to 265km of great skiing, with plenty of challenges for all abilities. Snowfall is regular and abundant, and there are three jam parks for freestylers.

In the summer, there's great hiking and biking in the mountains, as well as watersports on the Giffre river. The Lac Bleu leisure area is a great day out for families - there's a beach area for swimming as well as horse-riding, treetop adventure area, Segway, electric skateboards and much more. Youngsters can enjoy the pump track, play areas, inflatables and trampolines, and trout fishing is free for those staying in the area.

The village of Sixt-Fer-a-Cheval, just 20 minutes drive away (13km), is worth a visit - said to be one of the most beautiful villages in France, it's set in a natural amphitheatre of high limestone cliffs. It's also the start of some great white-water rafting and home to a via ferrata course.

Those who like gardening should pay a visit to the Jaysinia Alpine Gardens, which features plants from mountainous regions across the world.
