Chalet Antigone ...
Tucked away in a quiet close of just five properties at the foot of the mountains, Chalet Antigone is a great place for a family holiday in the Alps, whatever the time of year.
It's a short drive (or a 15-minute walk) to the village of Saint Jean de Sixt, where there are several shops, including a popular bakery, sports hire shops, delicatessen, post office, supermarket, bar and restaurants.
Despite its quiet location, it's not far from the main road which links La Clusaz to Le Grand Bornand, and it's just a 30-minute drive to Annecy and less than an hour to Geneva airport.
The chalet has a good-sized garden, which is great for snow fun in the winter and for games and sunbathing in the warmer weather. The sheltered terrace, with a beautiful view of the Aravis mountains, means you can sit out, or even eat in the garden, whatever the weather. If it's too cold, gather inside around the fire.
Chalet Antigone is a great choice for guests with young families - the level, secure garden and a TV/games room on the second floor will be enjoyed by children.
About the property ...
Chalet Antigone sleeps up to eight guests in four bedrooms with two bathrooms, set over two floors.
The cosy open-plan living area on the ground floor is filled with light, thanks to the full length windows and doors overlooking the terrace and garden. Comfortable sofas and chairs are arranged around the fireplace, and there's a large dining table where everyone can sit down to eat together. A breakfast bar with stools separates this area from the well-equipped kitchen, which has everything you need to cook for a large group.
The first bedroom is also on the ground floor - a spacious room with a kingsize bed or twinable beds and an en suite shower room. There's also a useful laundry room and a separate toilet.
There are three more bedrooms on the first floor as well as a beautifully sunny TV and games room, with a picture window, where children can play or watch a film on Netflix. One of the bedrooms have kingsize bed and the others have twin beds. There's also a family bathroom on this floor with a separate WC.
There is parking in front of the chalet, as well as a garage with room to store bikes, skis and pushchairs etc.
About the area ...
Whether you've got young or older beginners in your ski party, St Jean de Sixt is the perfect place to help them find their ski legs, as weather allowing, it has its own small ski slope where novices can practice and gain confidence.
But there's plenty of challenge for skiers of all levels on the main slopes, and Chalet Antigone is well placed to make the most of some great skiing. Halfway between La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand ski resorts (both just 10 minutes drive away), you can ski somewhere new every day.
The Aravis ski pass also covers the Manigod area, giving you 220km of pistes of varying levels to explore, as well as extensive off-piste action. Nordic skiers will discover plenty of trails from St Jean de Sixt - in fact there's a 7km trail just behind the chalet. There's a free sledging run behind the town hall too!
Non-skiers can go ice skating or swimming in La Clusaz, where the heated indoor and outdoor pools are open all year round, or try snowshoeing, sledging, dog-sledding and sleigh rides and the exciting ski-joering - skiing while being towed by a horse! After all that excitement why not enjoy some pampering at one of the two spas in La Clusaz.
There's plenty to do here in the spring and summer too. St Jean de Sixt is one of only two places in the world where you can try Bun-J ride, a cross between ski jumping and bungee jumping! It's open all year round. Other more traditional pastimes are available too - marked footpaths crisscross the mountains, many starting right from your front door, or you can explore by mountain bike - take the lift to the top of the mountain then come back down at your own pace.
There are a number of mountain farms within a pleasant walk of the chalet, where you can see the local Reblochon cheese being made - you'll come away with a delicious treat for the walk back! Cool off at the swimming pool complexes in Le Grand Bornand, La Clusaz and Thônes, or if you're looking for something a little more challenging, there's a climbing school, via ferrata routes, tree-top adventure parks, canyoning, white-water rafting, horse-riding, karting and paragliding all nearby.

The OVO Network Review
This well-appointed chalet in St Jean de Sixt sleeps eight guests in four bedrooms, one of which has an en suite shower room.
There is also a family bathroom.
Situated in a quiet residential close on the edge of the village, it's a great choice for two families. It has a large lawned garden, a covered terrace and a games/TV room where children can do their own thing while the adults relax downstairs.
The open-plan living area enjoys great views of the garden and mountains, and when it's too cold to sit outside on the covered terrace, you can light the fire and gather on the sofas in the living room. The kitchen is fully-equipped and the dining table is big enough for everyone to eat together and there's more seating at the breakfast bar, which is a great place for a quick snack or a children's supper.
Picture windows flood the living areas with light, and make the most of the great view. The garden is the perfect place for children to let off steam, or to relax after an active day in the mountains.
St Jean de Sixt has all the necessary shops for your stay, as well as bars and restaurants. The ski bus stops in the village, so a car isn't absolutely necessary, but it's useful for exploring further afield.
Depending on weather conditions, there is a small slope for beginners near the chalet, which is the perfect place for young beginners to try out their skis and gain confidence, but there is plenty more to discover just a short bus ride or drive away in La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand.

From the owner
Maxime
Although we are originally from the South of France, generations of our family have been coming to the Aravis area to recharge our batteries. We have a real fondness for this area, as we have spend such wonderful times here.
Now that the family is spread across the world, in France and abroad, we continue to gather at Chalet Antigone.
It's a joy to spend happy moments together around the fire. The large windows let in the mountain light, making you feel as if you are outside while you enjoy the warmth of your living room.
And the breathtaking view of the Aravis mountains just invites you to explore.
Chalet Antigone has won our hearts, and we are sure it will enchant you too.
We look forward to many more family holidays at Chalet Antigone, and hope you enjoy your stay.

“Amazing stay”
We had an excellent stay in this chalet, which is functional, spacious and pleasant. The plus point is that it's very pleasant outside in fine weather, with a fantastic view!
“A great place to recharge your batteries!”
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this accommodation, which offers a convenient self-contained arrival point. The view of the magnificent Aravis mountain range is a real asset, adding a unique charm to the experience. The accommodation is warm and welcoming, with a large fireplace making evenings particularly cosy and a peaceful environment in which to relax. Overall, we would recommend this accommodation for those looking to get away from it all in a natural and tranquil setting, while noting a few small improvements that could be made. A great place to recharge your batteries!
