Morzine - Wednesdays

Avoriaz, Châtel, Les Gets, Montriond-Lindarets & Morzine
This major MTB event covers 80km of marked trails, with plenty of pit stops where you can refuel with local dishes. The event traditionally takes place across all the Portes du Soleil resorts, but Covid restrictions mean that this year all routes start in France. As well as the cycle routes there’s a trade show, where you can discover and buy the latest in bikes and accessories, and Pass’Portes Kids - a special route for children aged from nine to 14, supervised by trained instructors. Walkers can take part too, with the Pass’Portes Pedestre routes in all five villages. Check the website for all the times, dates and routes.
Les Gets
The mountain bike world cup is back in Les Gets - three days of cross-country and downhill competitions, concerts, exhibitions and entertainment provide a great start to the summer. Check the website for the full programme.
Morzine
The national holiday is celebrated in big style in Morzine, with a firefighters’ parade, a concert by Paris Vegas and a big firework finale at 11pm.
Golf Les Gets, Route des Chavannes
Dress up in your best vintage outfits and pick up your wooden clubs - Golf Les Gets is going back in time for the national holiday. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never played golf before - this could be your chance to get started. As well as the on-course action, there’s a lunch, old-fashioned photographer, an awards ceremony and a dance.
Les Gets
Explore mountain pastures, ridge paths, and stunning views of Mont Blanc when you push yourself to the limit in this mountain trail run. There are three routes (11, 21 or 35km) as well as the Mont Chery challenge - a steep four-hour loop. There are also three races for children on Saturdays.
Les Gets
This week-long festival looks at the four elements (earth, air, fire and water) in the context of eco-tourism in Les Gets and its surroundings. There’s a range of fun activities including workshops, crafts and nature trails, as well as festival staples such as concerts, shows and fireworks.
Place de l’Office de Tourisme, Morzine
Discover the health benefits from health specialists and growers at this Nature and Plants fair. You’ll be able to buy natural skincare products and soap as well as plant-based meals, or learn how to cook with plants or make your own cosmetics at a series of workshops.
Palais des Sports, Morzine
You can’t help but feel great after this week-long fair dedicated to self-care and wellness. Workshops focus on subjects such as walking, Pilates, yoga and sophrology (working on a harmonious state of consciousness).
Morzine, Samoens
Cyclists looking for a challenge might like to sign up for this legendary cycle from Morzine to Samoens, a 10.7km climb at an average of 6.6%. If you choose to come from Samoens to Morzine, you’ll face an 11.65km climb at 8.5%. But you’ll be rewarded with stunning views of the Giffre valley and Mont Blanc - and the road is closed to cars, so you can enjoy it safely.

The beach comes to Morzine for two days, so kick off your flip-flops and feel that sand between your toes! Sandpits, sunbathing, face paints and ice creams are the order of the day at this free event.
Various locations, Les Gets
Bars, restaurants, mountain pastures and the village centre play host to 20 concerts over two weeks of free music, from blues to funk, pop and jazz. Check the website for the full programme.
Morzine/Avoriaz
This challenging trail run will take you from Morzine to Avoriaz, through some of the most stunning scenery in the Portes du Soleil. The route is technically demanding, and the altitude, which varies from 1900-3800m is testing too, but the views and the atmosphere are great rewards. Routes vary from 23k to 51k.

It’s all about the children at this week-long festival in Morzine. All day from Monday to Friday, there are workshops, concerts, shows and so much more. All events are free - get a programme of events from the tourist office.
Les Gets
This downhill mountain bike event is strictly for the kids - those aged between seven and 14. The day starts at 8am with a morning of reconnaissance. The real action takes place after lunch, with prize giving at 5pm. It’s €15 to enter and you’ll also need a lift pass.
Morzine/Avoriaz
This challenging obstacle race will see participants crossing lakes, jumping into waterfalls, and swimming in white water rivers. There are five courses, ranging from a 5k course with 20 obstacles, to The Beast - a 50k course with 60 obstacles, which will push you to your limits. But children can take part too, with their own course designed for those between four and 14.
Palais des Sports, Morzine
This mountain event is a great opportunity for triathlon enthusiasts. Start with a swim in the lake at Montriond, follow that with a cycle up the Avoriaz climb (used in the Tour de France) and round it off with a run along the banks of the River Dranse. There are several courses of varying lengths, including one for juniors. More details and registration on the website.
Morzine
This legendary rally, part of the French Rally Championship, marks the end of the summer season. Top rally drivers from all over the world come to compete in this challenging mountain race around the back streets of Morzine and Les Gets before heading for the Joux Plane, the Joux Verte and the Cote D’Arbroz. A great day for spectators.
