About Pralor Le Peille ...
Le Peille is a stylish newly-built semi-detached chalet in an old farm, L'Alpage du Pralor, between the beautiful village of Manigod and the ski station of La Croix Fry.
With excellent sound-proofing, this stunning secluded, but not isolated, property is in a south-facing chalet, the last property in a lane off the main Manigod road, so you won't be disturbed by passing traffic.
You'll need your car, as it's a 1km walk to to the ski bus stop in the winter, 4km to La Croix Fry and 3km to the shops and restaurants of Manigod. However, the advantage of this quiet location is the stunning view across the Manigod valley to the mountains beyond.
In the summer the farm is surrounded by lush green pastures, which are flat around the property - a great place for children to play. There are also stunning views of the sunset at the end of each day from the terrace to the side of the property or the jacuzzi.
Local craftsmen were brought in for the construction, using traditional methods and stone from the old farm where possible, to ensure the building sits comfortably in its surroundings.
The property ...
No detail has been left to chance in the design and furnishing of this fabulous property.
Sleeping 8 people in 4 en suite double bedrooms (one of which is on the ground floor), Le Peille comfortably accommodates four couples, two families or a large group. Each stylish bedroom has two single beds which can be joined to make doubles on request, and sumptuous French bed linen, in line with the owner's determination to support local businesses.
There is plenty of storage in each room, as well as a flat screen television with French and English channels, and wifi is available throughout the property. Most bedrooms also have a desk and chair. The bathrooms are stylish and modern, and come complete with soft towels and bathrobes.
In the open plan living area, the well-equipped oak kitchen, which has windows on two sides to make the most of the fabulous views and the light, was built by a local carpenter, and makes cooking for a crowd a pleasure. The top-quality furniture and soft furnishings were chosen with the help of an interior designer, and combine rustic mountain style in neutral colours with modern comfort.
When it's cold outside, snuggle up on the cosy L-shaped sofa in front of the woodburning stove, but in warmer weather you'll want to be relaxing on the sunny balconies, or enjoying a barbecue on the west-facing terrace. Skiers will appreciate the ski racks and boot warmers and will love relaxing in the jacuzzi & private hammam after an exhilarating day on the pistes.
About the area ...
When you stay at Le Peille, your peaceful surroundings could make you feel like you're miles from anywhere. In fact, the pistes of La Croix Fry are just a few minutes' drive away and parking is free.
The whole of the Annecy ski resorts, including La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand, are easily accessible, giving you more than 200km of skiing. Floodlights on some of the pistes mean you can even ski until 1am in La Clusaz on certain dates, and the weekly torchlit descent is an experience you'll never forget. Plus there are dedicated pistes for trying out paret racing, a home grown Manigod sport!
Cross-country skiers will find plenty of trails to choose from, and non-skiers are not forgotten, with a heated indoor/outdoor swimming pool, ice skating rink and cinema, as well as sledging, snow-shoe walking, dog-sledding and horse-drawn sleigh rides. For the ultimate in winter fun, try paragliding on skis or ski joering - skiing while towed by a horse!
We'll be happy to welcome you in our sports shop Veyrat Sports located at Manigod-Croix Fry, where we will keep a parking space for you on request, right at the bottom of the ski slopes.
After all the exhilaration of a day in the mountains, the hot tub & steam room at Le Peille is the perfect place to relax and unwind.
In the summer, there’s no better place to catch the sun than the terraces of Le Peille (each of them with a table and chairs for eight). But with so much to discover, you’ll regret it if you don’t get out and explore a little!
There’s no shortage of walks, from mountain trails to hiking on the Gliéres or those to the Beauregard plateau which begin at the front door. There is a table tennis table on the deck to the rear of the chalet.
Adrenalin junkies can try paragliding, canyoning, climbing, mountain-biking, karting or white-water rafting - just some of the activities on offer within a few miles of Manigod. Via ferrata is a great family day out, with children as young as eight able to explore the mountains on iron walkways, secured to a harness. I
if your idea of a holiday is a little less energetic, try the free open-air swimming pools at the Col de Merdassier, sample the other open air pools at Le Grand Bornand or in La Clusaz, or pack up a picnic and enjoy a gentle nature walk.
A day out to the beautiful lakeside town of Annecy is a must. Explore the shops and museums in the morning, lunch at a lakeside restaurant, and you've got the rest of the day to swim in the crystal-clear waters, hire a boat or try some of the watersports on offer.

The OVO Network Review
The beautifully renovated Alpage du Pralor is an old farmhouse which has been split into two very smart semi detached rental properties each for 8 people, Le Nova and Le Peille. The renovation took into account that sound proofing needed to be effective, balconies have wooden barriers to give privacy, terraces are on opposite sides of the property for the same reason.
Each property has 4 ensuite bedroom and is spread over three floors. Each is a perfect base for those who value nature, space and simply stunning panoramic views.
Virtually every window is like the frame of a picture postcard! With very good quality workmanship and craftsmanship throughout the build itself, natural fabrics and colours, a hammam and an outdoor jacuzzi thrown into the mix too, each property is ideal for one or two families a group of friends, or couples. Or if you are a larger group who prefer some privacy why not rent both properties with friends and family?
The chalet stands alone at the top of a meadow with the forest behind, above a farm where you can purchase fresh milk, cheese and butter. A car is required for access the ski slopes and the local shops, there are some beautiful walks from the front door, and a huge meadow surrounding the property for fun in the snow!
Le Peille has south facing balconies and a dining terrace to the west of the chalet from which to catch the sunset every night. There are only shower rooms in Le Peille.
If you don't want to share a garage, or parking spaces this is not the property for you. The two hammams are accessed via the garage, bath robes are provided.
The owners also own Veyrat Sports, one of the ski hire shops at La Croix Fry, so guests have expert advice on which skis to rent or buy on hand!

From the owner
Patrice & Anita
The chalet has been built on land which has been owned by the Veyrat-Durebex family for several generations. The original farm was built in 1846 and was on the verge of falling down, so we took it apart before it fell down, conserving all the original materials we could for use in the new build.
We had originally planned to build a family home on this site, but with our commitments with running our sports hire shop at La Croix Fry, Patrice taking care of the snow clearing at the Col, plus the changing needs of our two children as they grew up, we realised this was not a practical solution, so we decided to build a property which could be let to holiday-makers.
We decided to honour the heritage of the site in the names we have chosen for the property. The chalet is called L'Alpage du Pralor - "Pralor" is local patois for "Pré à l'ours" which means "field of the bear"
The names of the two rental properties, Le Nova and Le Peille, reflect the traditional division of the farm houses in this region. The side of the farm nearest to the sunrise - Le Nova - was where the animals were housed, and the other part of the house - Le Peille - was where the family lived.
Work began in 2013.
We decided to build a "chalet mitoyen" - a pair of semi-detached chalets each sleeping 8, with independent access, independent terraces, plenty of parking and some of the most spectacular panoramic views in the Manigod valley.
Even locals cannot help but be impressed by the incredible views.
The chalet is halfway between the ski fields and the village. It is a 4km drive to the Col de la Croix Fry, and Manigod village is 3km away, so a car is necessary, but we feel that the location is idyllic, and the short drive necessary to reach the piste or the village is more than justified by the splendid isolation of the setting on the edge of the forest leading up to the plateau at Beauregard.
The road is kept clear of snow by the commune of Manigod and by Franck the farmer, who lives in the farm just below the chalet. You may also meet his brother Nicolas, as he is the one taking care of the goats.
He will happily supply you with fresh farm produce: hard and soft goat's cheese such as chevre and chevrotin, Tomme, reblochon, fresh butter and milk.
Throughout the year, the walking trails of Le Petit Novard, Colomban and Beauregard can be reached from the front door, whether you are walking, jogging or on snow shoes, and because the chalet is surrounded on three sides by mountain pasture, away from busy roads, it is an amazing playground and provides fantastic sledging for children of all ages.
The chalet is south-facing and so guests can enjoy the sunshine all day long, summer and winter. If you stay at the alpage you get the best of both worlds!
We'll be happy to welcome you in our sports shop Veyrat Sports located at Manigod-Croix Fry where we will keep a parking space for you on request, right at the bottom of the ski slopes. All year round we'll be available to advise you on ski and mountain sports equipment.

The beautiful chalet is located with a spectacular view of the mountains. You won't miss anything while staying.
“Lovely chalet perched above Manigod”
Lovely chalet perched above Manigod, with stunning views of the mountains! The chalet is semi-detached, but you can't hear the neighbours at all. There are two hammams in the basement, one for each rental. Plenty of activities to do nearby. Anita gave us great tips upon our arrival. Thank you for a restful and rejuvenating stay:-)
