About Chalet Chenavray ...
Chalet Chenavray is a charming traditional-style self catered chalet in the Alps with all the 3-star conveniences you need to make your Alpine holiday perfect.
Set over three floors, the accommodation is arranged so that the ground floor is a self-contained apartment with its own entrance, ideal for a couple who are looking for a little bit of privacy.
Spacious balconies, a deck and a terrace mean everyone can find their own place in the sun, and there’s covered parking for two cars, so even in the winter your car is snow-free and ready to go.
This delightful chalet is just five minutes by car from Manigod village, where you can pick up fresh bread from the boulangerie or enjoy a locally-sourced meal at Val Sulens restaurant, which also does takeaway food.
The property ...
A lot of care has gone into furnishing Chalet Chenavray so that 10 adults can enjoy each other’s company without falling over each other.
The ground floor apartment has an open-plan sitting, dining and kitchen area, as well as a shower room and a double bedroom.
On the first floor, you'll find the main living area, with a cosy L-shaped sofa in front of the fireplace and access to the terrace, a dining area and fully-equipped kitchen. There's also a double bedroom on this floor, a shower room and the sauna. The laundry can be reached through the garage.
On the top floor, the master suite has an en suite shower room, a dressing room and access to the balcony - it's the perfect spot for that first cup of tea in the morning, or to soak up the last of the sun as it sinks down behind the mountains. There is another double bedroom and a twin room on this floor, which share a bathroom.
After an energetic day skiing or walking in the mountains, it’s great to come home to the log fire, or perhaps ease those aching limbs in the sauna before sharing your memories of the day over a fondue and a glass of wine.
About the area ...
With the ski bus stopping 250m from your door, and the nearest lifts just 5km away at the Croix Fry sector of the La Clusaz pistes (altitude 1500m), you’ll waste no time getting to the pistes.
A single Aravis ski pass gives you access to the 95 lifts and 220km of runs which link La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand, and there are plenty of mountain restaurants where you can meet up with friends for lunch.
The nearby Beauregard plateau is a great choice for cross-country skiing and snow-shoe walking. Non-skiers can go ice-skating or swimming in La Clusaz, where the heated indoor and outdoor pools are open all year round - there’s nothing better than floating in the steaming outdoor pool while the snow-covered mountains tower above you.
In the summer, walking in the mountains is a pleasure, and all the hard work is done for you if you take the lift to the top and come down at your own pace. The Gliéres plateau, scene of the Resistance’s campaign in World War II, is a great place for a picnic.
Adrenalin junkies can try paragliding, canyoning, climbing, mountain-biking or white-water rafting - just some of the activities on offer within a few miles of Manigod. Via ferrata is a great family day out, with children as young as eight able to explore the mountains on iron walkways, secured to a harness.
After a strenuous day, you’ll be glad to get back to your chalet for a barbecue on the sunny terrace.
The medieval lakeside town of Annecy is just 30 minutes away by car and is a great place for a day out, whatever the season, with its unique mix of restaurants, shops and museums. In the summer it's a great place for water sports, or hire a boat and explore some of the quiet lakeside beaches.
Whatever you do, you can be sure of a holiday you'll never forget.

The OVO Network Review
Chalet Chenavray is a five-bedroom, four-bathroom chalet for 10 guests, spread over three floors, with 130 M2 of floor space.
Chalet Chenavray was one of the first chalets to join the OVO Network and has always been popular with multi-generational families looking for a comfortable chalet in a great location.
The lower floor was at one time set up as a separate apartment, so has its own entrance, kitchen, dining area, lounge, bathroom and bedroom, and its own deck.
The sauna is also in this apartment.
There is no internal access to the rest of the chalet, a bonus for parents with youngsters, or grandparents who prefer to have their own space while on holiday with the family.
The fireplace, living space and dining area are on the main floor, as is the main kitchen, which is small but well-equipped. On the top floor some of the bedrooms are smaller than those in more modern chalets, please check the plans for accurate detailed information.
The large main terrace is to the side and rear of the chalet, with a brick barbecue, table tennis table, dining area and private space for sunbathing.
In summer the automatic irrigation system takes care of watering the window boxes and flower beds.
In winter the drive can sometimes be challenging, depending on snow conditions. Happily, it is short, and there is room to park cars off the road at the bottom of the drive and walk up.

From the owner
Graham & Ann
“We first visited the Haute Savoie area with our children about 25 years ago. At that time we used to tour with our caravan, accompanied by friends and their children in their caravans.
On many occasions we ended up staying close to the Manigod area for our main holiday. In fact my son and his friend telephoned for their GCE results from the lakeside at Menthon and we celebrated with friends and children by a dinner on the evening cruise down the lake, one of life’s unforgettable memories.
Our friends bought a house here and after we stayed with them, we longed for our own chalet. Then one Christmas we found one in our price range and refurbished it both outside and inside to make it the chalet you see today.
We have tried to incorporate modern bathrooms but retain some of the old world charm. We never tire of the wonderful views of the Manigod valley - winter and summer we can spend hours just looking at “our garden”
Top of our list are the magnificent colours of the autumn, and seeing the cows and goats being brought down to their winter pastures from the high plateau.
We feel our chalet is a home from home.
Our family enjoys the fun of sking, snowshoe walking, tobogganing, ice skating in the winter, and the sauna is in high demand for those aching limbs after the first ski downhills.
The family learnt to ski here at Croix Fry, which is about six minutes away from the chalet, and now enjoy the plethora of runs available which cater for all abilities. In fact, our granddaughter (4) is just starting to learn to ski.
My husband loves sitting on the balcony on a clear evening and watches the stars (wrapped up warm of course) – you seem to feel as one with nature. In the summer again we love sitting on the veranda watching the view.
We plant the geraniums and lovingly tend them and enjoy them cascading over the balcony.
The family also visit in the summer and love the stunning walks to the high mountains, as well as the activities on Lake Annecy at Menthon and Tailloires. Cycle rides around the lake are a new venture which we have enjoyed.
We all love our visits to Annecy and we never tire of walking around the old town, stopping for a coffee, or perhaps an ice cream. We are spoilt for choice for restaurants but love the shellfish restaurant as you enter the old town.
My wife loves the shops and Saturday market in Thones., and our favourite treat is a coffee and cake in the patisserie in the arcades in Thones.
Another favourite visit of ours is to the Resistance museum just outside Thones. We love going to the Plateau de Glieres and walking around the historic pathway, you realise what brave men and women these people were.
We usually take a picnic and spend the day there, although there are restaurants where you can get a good plat du jour.
To sum up, we just relax when we are here. It is a cliché but we have the best of both worlds, winter wonderland and summer pastimes in a chalet which has all the modern comforts in a rural community. ”
