About the property ...

There's plenty of space for 10 guests at Chalet Cashmere Spirit, which has five cosy bedrooms and four bathrooms. Accommodation is set over three floors, with bedrooms, bathrooms and seating areas on each one, making it ideal for a group of several families who would each like their own space.

The main living room at the top of the chalet has superb views over Manigod valley. Choose a bottle of wine from the cellar and sink into the soft sofas around the log fire for the perfect evening with friends. Those who would rather watch television have their own space - the TV room on the floor below is furnished with two antique day beds piled with cushions. If you're looking for a quiet space to relax with a book, there's another area on the ground floor with a daybed.

The first bedroom is double/twin room on the ground floor, next to the reading room. You'll also find the luxurious spa area on this floor, which has a hot tub, a double shower and a sauna. There's even a massage room, where you can enjoy a treatment from a visiting therapist.

There's a skiers' entrance on this floor too - come straight in and leave your skis and outdoor gear before heading upstairs.

The highlight of the first floor must be the large indoor pool (9m x 4.5m)! Step through the double doors from the TV lounge, and you'll find a poolside seating area. You can also get to the pool from the lower floor, and from the decked garden. Why not make a day of it and enjoy lunch on the 50m2 covered terrace, with stunning views over the mountains?

The handbuilt kitchen has everything you need to cook up a delicious meal, and there's a large table in the dining room where you can all sit down to eat together around the woodburning stove.

There's another double bedroom on this floor, as well as a bathroom with a freestanding bath and twin basins.

The main living area is on the top floor, where cosy sofas are arranged around another woodburning stove, and doors open on to a balcony, to make the most of the views.

This balcony is also shared with two bedrooms - a family room with a double and a single bed, and a double/twin room with a dressing area and an en suite shower room. There's also a separate WC on this floor. The final bedroom is a large double/twin room with a seating area and a mezzanine floor over the bed - this is where you'll find the elegant en suite shower room.

There are two parking spaces at Chalet Cashmere Spirit, but guests who need more space can use the south-facing garden at the front of the property.

About the area ...

Chalet Cashmere Spirit is just 10 minutes from the Croix Fry sector of the La Clusaz pistes (altitude 1500m), where you can park free, although the ski bus stops just 50m from the chalet. There are plenty of gentle nursery slopes here, where beginners can build confidence, while experienced skiers have access to more than 200km of pistes and 95 lifts in the La Clusaz/Le Grand Bornand area.

Cross-country skiers will find plenty of trails on the nearby Beauregard plateau, and non-skiers are not forgotten, with an ice skating rink and cinema in La Clusaz, as well as sledging, snow-shoe walking, dog-sledding and horse-drawn sleigh rides. And when you come home at the end of the day, the underfloor heating, log fire and sauna mean there’s always a warm welcome.

Summer visitors will find plenty of walks, from mountain hikes to gentle plateau paths, and you can take the ski lift to the top of the mountains and come back down at your own pace. There are tree-top adventure parks for all the family at Thônes and Le Grand Bornand, and a beautiful lakeside golf course at Annecy.

Adrenalin junkies can try paragliding, canyoning, climbing, via ferrata, mountain-biking or white-water rafting - just some of the activities on offer within a few miles of Manigod. Round off the perfect day with a barbecue and a dip in the pool back at Chalet Cashmere Spirit.

Just a short drive from Manigod, the ski resorts of La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand have a good choice of shops and restaurants, as well as weekly markets where you can pick up fresh local produce. There are more shops and a couple of supermarkets in Thônes, just 10 minutes’ drive away.

The medieval town of Annecy is a great day out. Browse the shops, museums and galleries and eat at a lakeside restaurant before hiring a boat and exploring the beaches, or indulging in a little watersport, such as kitesurfing, waterskiing or windsurfing.
