Chalet Ours Rouge

Whenever you decide to visit, you won't be short of things to do. Le Grand Bornand and Chinaillon are part of the Aravis ski area, along with La Clusaz and Manigod. You'll have 220km of pistes to explore on one ski pass. And there's still plenty to discover when the snow melts, with a network of mountain trails as well as other activities such as climbing, via ferrata, canyoning and paragliding.

Le Grand Bornand has been awarded the Famille Plus label, so there's always a great programme of activities for children.

About the property ...

There's plenty of room for up to 11 guests (nine adults) at Chalet Ours Rouge - a three-storey property with five bedrooms and three bathrooms, as well as a cinema, a sauna and an indoor hot tub.

You'll enter on the ground floor, into a hallway with plenty of storage for outdoor gear and a separate WC. Continue into the spacious, open-plan living area, where cosy sofas and chairs invite you to relax in front of the television and stylish suspended fireplace. There's even a piano for musical evenings!

The well-equipped kitchen has everything you need to cook up a hearty meal for a hungry crowd, including a double oven, induction hob, fridge, freezer and dishwasher. The breakfast bar is the perfect place for a quick snack, but there's room for everyone to eat together at the large dining table in front of the doors to the covered balcony.

There's a cosy reading room on this floor with plenty of cushions - it's a great place for young children to play or to get away from it all with a good book. It's next to a double bedroom which has a television, an en-suite shower room and doors to the balcony.

There are four more bedrooms on the first floor, three of which are double rooms, all with televisions. One also has an en-suite shower room and two have access to the balcony. The fourth bedroom is ideal for children, with three single beds, one of which are on a mezzanine floor accessed via a ladder. There's also a large bathroom with a bath and a large separate shower.

Head back down to the lower ground floor, where you'll find the impressive cinema room with a full projection system, a sauna, hot tub and shower, as well as an exercise area with a treadmill and an exercise bike. There's also a ski room with a heated boot rack and a utility room with a washing machine and dryer. And at the end of the day you can choose a bottle of wine from the cellar, to enjoy over dinner or perhaps on the sunny balcony as the sun goes down.

The chalet has a covered parking space with additional space for two more cars in front of the chalet. Pets are welcome at Chalet Ours Rouge.

About the area ...

You'll have great skiing, hiking and biking in every direction when you stay at Chalet Ours Rouge. And with the shuttle bus stopping just a few steps from your door, you won't need to use your car.

The bus also links you to La Clusaz and Le Croix Fry, in Manigod, so you’ll never be stuck for a lift home. There are plenty of cross-country ski trails in the area, and beginners in this sport will love the Evo Nordic Park, which has a circuit featuring a variety of terrains. Any boarders in your group will appreciate the Snowpark.

Non-skiers can try ice-skating, sledging, Nordic walking, or even paragliding and ice climbing - there's no shortage of adventures in this area.

But the mountains aren't just for winter - there's plenty to do and discover in the summer too. A network of walking and biking trails cover the mountains, and you can pick up a route map for either at the tourist office. There’s a fantastic swimming pool complex in Le Grand Bornand, with a restaurant and grassy areas for picnics.

If you’re looking for something a little more challenging, there’s a climbing school, via ferrata routes, a tree-top adventure park, canyoning and white-water rafting nearby.

Le Grand Bornand has Famille Plus status, and prides itself on a great programme of activities for young families. August sees the International Children’s Festival in the village - a week of puppet shows, circus acts and workshops, with a grand firework finale.
