Chalet Hartza ...
This stylish contemporary chalet for 12 guests is just a 15-minute walk from the busy Alpine village of Le Grand Bornand. The nearest ski lifts are less than 2km away and the ski bus stops 150m from your door, so you'll have great access to more than 200km of pistes in the Aravis ski resorts.
In the summer, the ski slopes are replaced with lush meadows and a vast network of hiking and biking trails - it's a great time to visit.
There's always plenty going on in Le Grand Bornand, which has a packed programme of events throughout the summer and winter seasons. There's also a great choice of shops, bars and restaurants and a weekly market, where you can pick up local cheeses, meats and preserves.
After a busy day exploring the mountains, you'll look forward to returning to Chalet Hartza, where you can enjoy a drink on the terrace or in the Nordic hot tub and admire the incredible views of the village and the Aravis mountains beyond.
IMPORTANT : If you are planning to rent Chalet Hartza (12 people) and the neighbouring Chalet Aravista (10 people) for a group, please note that the capacity of each property must be respected for insurance purposes. Neither chalet is equipped to accommodate more than the stated capacity (dining table, lounge, crockery, bedrooms, equipment etc). Thank you for your understanding.
Guests travelling by electric car will be able to recharge their vehicle at the chalet during their stay, using a metered socket. This meter indicates actual consumption at a cost of €0.40/KW. The cost of recharging must be paid directly to the owner before departure. Thank you for your understanding.
About the property ...
There is plenty of room for up to 12 guests at Chalet Hartza, with accommodation over three floors.
You'll enter the chalet on the top floor through the useful ski room, where you'll find plenty of storage for your equipment, ski racks, a heated boot rack and seating. There's a double garage on this floor too, as well as laundry facilities, and the first of the bedrooms - a double with an en suite shower room.
The impressive open plan living area is on the next floor down. A cosy sofa is arranged in front of the floor to ceiling windows, and if you can tear your eyes away from the incredible view, there's a television too. A woodburning stove separate the living area from the large dining table, which is big enough for everyone to sit down and eat together - it's sure to be the setting for some lively conversations as you share stories of a wonderful day. In the summer, you may prefer a barbecue on the terrace, which runs across the width of the chalet.
The large kitchen has everything you need to cook for a crowd, and the central island and breakfast bar mean there's plenty of room for several chefs to share the work.
There's a separate toilet on this floor and another double bedroom, with an en suite shower room and access to the terrace - the perfect place for your morning coffee.
There are three more bedrooms on the lower floor. The first, which has an en suite shower room with twin sinks, has a double or twin beds with two bunk beds above. It's a great family space, and has access to the terrace. There are two more double bedrooms, both of which open on to the terrace. These rooms share a shower room with a double sink, and a separate toilet. There's also a small room on this floor with a table football game.
The lower terrace is home to the sheltered Nordic hot tub and the sauna, which enjoy fabulous views over the rooftops to the village, with its pretty church, and the mountains beyond. There is also a swing set on the side of the chalet, above the nordic bath.
There's plenty of parking at Chalet Hartza, with the double garage as well as parking spaces, and an external staircase runs down the side of the property to the terrace.
About the area ...
When you stay at Chalet Hartza, you're just a 2km drive from the pistes and just a short walk from the ski bus stop.
The bus, which also serves La Clusaz, stops just 150m from the chalet, and it's free to use with your Aravis ski pass. This pass covers more than 220km of pristine pistes, in the resorts of Le Grand Bornand, La Clusaz and Manigod, so there's plenty of challenge for skiers and boarders of all abilities. There are also plenty of cross-country trails.
Non-skiers won't be bored either - try hiking or snowshoeing, paragliding, hot-air ballooning, ice-skating or ice-climbing. Le Grand Bornand boasts the Famille Plus mark, ensuring that there is always plenty of entertainment and activities for even the youngest visitors.
In the summer, a network of walking and biking trails criss-cross the slopes, and you can pick up a route map for either at the tourist office. Le Grand Bornand has a beautiful nine-hole golf course with a great driving range, and on those very hot days, why not head for the fantastic swimming pool complex, with a restaurant and grassy areas for picnics.
If you’re looking for something a little more challenging, there’s a climbing school, via ferrata routes, a tree-top adventure park, canyoning, white-water rafting and paragliding all nearby.
August sees the international children’s festival - Au Bonheur des Mômes - in Le Grand Bornand, a week of magic shows, circus acts, theatre, games and workshops, with a grand firework finale. It’s always hugely popular, so make sure you book early to guarantee a holiday you’ll never forget!

The OVO Network Review
Chalet Hartza is a contemporary chalet built in 2021. There are five bedrooms and four bathrooms, with accommodation set over three floors.
It's an unusual chalet, in that the entrance and garage are on the top floor. The chalet's elevated position on the side of the mountain means the views are spectacular, but it also means access is difficult for those with limited mobility.
We love the practical ski room and laundry facilities on the top floor - at the end of the day exploring the mountains, you can stash all your outdoor gear without trailing it through the living area.
The kitchen is very well equipped, and with the breakfast bar and stools, it's a sociable space to be when you're preparing meals.
Three of the bedrooms have stylish en suite facilities, with wonderful walk-in showers. There are no baths here, but if you're after a long relaxing soak, what could be better than the Nordic hot tub on the terrace!
This cosy and practical chalet is managed by the owners, who live next door, so if you have any questions during your stay, they will be happy to help.

When we retired, we wanted to continue our professional life by building Chalet Hartza. We have put our hearts and souls into this chalet, to make sure it is an enjoyable and practical holiday home for our guests.
We love meeting our guests, chatting with them and sharing with them the things that we think make this area so special - it's rewarding for us.
As we live next door to Chalet Hartza, you will have no problem getting in touch with us. Our children and grandchildren live locally and are a great support to us.
We're sure you will have an unforgettable stay at Chalet Harza in Le Grand Bornand, in Haute Savoie, situated in the Bornes and Aravis mountains. It's a traditional mountain village with a warm welcome for tourists.
Chalet Hartza has been newly built, with quality materials, This south-facing chalet offers 200 m² of space over three floors for 12 guests. There is a wonderful view over the village, as well as Danay and Tournette mountains.
