Chalet 1703...
Behind the door of this seemingly traditional 5 star chalet is the start of a wonderful holiday - fabulous interiors, a forest of trees, imaginative lighting and a relaxing spa area are all on offer at this amazing designer chalet.
Built in 1703, the chalet has been totally renovated to offer every modern convenience while retaining all the charm of this old farm. A games room, sauna, steam room and an outdoor spa are just some of the facilities you can enjoy when you choose Chalet 1703 for your mountain holiday.
The chalet is set in a quiet street in the village Petit Bornand, which has a local grocery store, a bakery and a couple of restaurants. There are more facilities, including a supermarket, in nearby St Pierre en Faucigny, which is about 10 minutes away by car. The bustling villages of La Clusaz, St-Jean-de-Sixt and Le Grand Bornand are all less than 20 minutes drive away, and their weekly markets are ideal for picking up fresh local produce such as Reblochon cheese and local meats. Supermarkets can be found in Thônes, just 25 minutes away.
About the property...
This stunning chalet can accommodate 12 people in five stylish bedrooms, each with their own bathrooms. The imaginatively designed accommodation is set over three main floors with a mezzanine level. There is also a traditional Savoyard 'mazot', which would originally have been used to store food and valuables away from the main building.
The spacious main living area at Chalet 1703 is on the second floor - at the front of the chalet there's a large seating area with modular sofas, and a dining table where you can all sit down and enjoy a meal together. This area opens on to a balcony which overlooks the garden. Towards the back, there's a sociable bar area and a fully equipped kitchen. There's also a cosy television room and a toilet on this floor.
The mezzanine area which overlooks the sitting room has a games room, where you can enjoy a game of pool or table football, or curl up with a book in the cosy reading area.
The five en suite bedrooms are on the first floor - all of them are double rooms with queen-size beds and are individually designed, with unique designer touches. Two of the bedrooms also have a balcony, and one has its own terrace. A central corridor leads to another balcony.
The fifth bedroom is accessed by an unusual suspended corridor. It is a spacious double room with a large bathroom, a separate toilet and a twin room on the mezzanine above. It's a great space for a family who would like a little extra privacy.
The ground floor of the main house is devoted to the spa area - when you return to the chalet after an active day walking, skiing or biking in the mountains, relax and unwind in the sauna, steam room or outdoor hot tub before dinner.
There’s also a delightful outdoor terrace where you can enjoy a barbecue, a ping pong table.
In the mazot, there's a laundry and a store room on the ground floor.
About the area...
Chalet 1703 is just a 15 to 20-minute drive from La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand - two of the Aravis ski stations which offer 220km of great skiing for all levels.
If you are looking for more variety you can get to Megeve, Chamonix or Courmayeur in under an hour. Cross-country skiers have a choice of trails on the Glieres plateau, scene of the Resistance campaign in World War II.
There is plenty to do for non-skiers too - try horse-drawn sleigh rides, ice-skating, paragliding or hot air ballooning or just relax in the heated indoor/outdoor pools at La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand, as the snow-covered mountains tower above you.
In the summer, there are plenty of hiking and mountain bike trails, and if you prefer to make things a little easier, the ski lifts will whisk you up to higher ground so that you don’t have to put in the hard work! Pack a picnic of some local bread and cheese, or eat at one of the many mountain restaurants, which offer good food and spectacular views.
Thrill seekers can try paragliding, canyoning, climbing, via ferrata or white-water rafting, and at the end of the day you can reflect on the day’s fun over a cold beer and a barbecue around the pool.
The medieval lakeside town of Annecy is less than an hour away by car and is a must for a day out, whatever the season, with its unique mix of restaurants, shops and museums. In the summer it’s a great place for golf and watersports, or you could hire a boat and explore some of the quiet lakeside beaches.

The OVO Network Review
Chalet 1703 is a five-bedroom, five bathroom chalet for 12 people - 10 adults and two children. The unusual layout sees accommodation over three floors and mezzanine areas, spread over the main house and a 'mazot' which is set slightly apart from the main house and accessed via a glass corridor.
The interior design at Chalet 1703 is really unique - the owner has really gone to town on bespoke lighting, wonderful patterns and stylish bathrooms, while retaining the wonderful beams and charm of this ancient building.
And with a separate TV room, a games room with table football and a pool table, a reading area and a wonderfully relaxing spa area, there's plenty of room for everyone to find some privacy, or to get together at the bar or over a meal.
You'll need a car when you stay at Chalet 1703, as it's a drive to the nearest skiing or walking areas, but there are restaurants, a grocery store and a bakery just 500m.

From the owner
Ludovic
We were looking for an ancient farm to renovate when we stumbled upon this splendid 450m2 building, which dates back to 1703. It is in a quiet location in an area called "au Fond des Prés", or “at the end of the meadows” in Petit Bornand.
It has taken two years of work to bring it back to life, adding the latest modern facilities while preserving its original exterior.
Inside, we decided to give it a totally unique look, combining modern materials with old wood, in particular the old wooden frame which is all original.
Le Petit Bornand is not a well-known village, but is an ideal base for exploring the area: it’s just 15km from the ski stations of La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand, but is also just a few minutes from the motorway to Chamonix or Geneva.

“A real wonder!”
We had an excellent stay in a truly unique place. It was spotless, so well equipped (there is even a lift!) and everything has obviously been thought through to reach your wildest expectations. It's even better than on the website!
