Chalet Zamaro
This contemporary terraced property next to the piste in La Clusaz sleeps up to 12 people in six bedrooms with three bathrooms.
This sunny, south-facing chalet with fabulous views of the Beauregard plateau is just 3km from La Clusaz, and less than 200m from La Ruade piste - experienced skiers can ski into the town in winter, while in the summer, it's a lovely downhill walk.
Accommodation is set over four floors, and the top floor, with twin bedrooms under the eaves and a separate TV room, is an ideal place for older children to make their own.
The chalet has a wonderfully sunny terrace at the front, and at the rear, there's another sheltered terrace in the garden, which backs on to woods. We think it's a great choice for two or three families who want to make the most of their time in the mountains.
About the property
You'll enter Chalet Zamaro from the sunny ground floor terrace - there's room to hang up coats in the hallway, which leads to a useful ski store. There's a delightful double bedroom on this floor, with doors that open on to the terrace with lovely views over Beauregard plateau. It's the ideal place to enjoy your morning coffee. The room has a separate WC and shower room.
The boiler room is also on this floor, as well as the laundry room, which has a washing machine and a tumble drier.
Stairs lead up to the open-plan living accommodation on the first floor - the sunny living room is at the front has two separate seating areas, one with a large corner sofa, and a television and woodburning stove. The dining area, which has a table for 12, is separated from the kitchen by a breakfast bar and has access to the rear terrace which has seating and a barbecue.
On the next floor, three bedrooms lead of the central landing. There are two doubles, one of which has an en suite shower room, a twin bedroom, a bathroom and a separate WC.
There are two more twin bedrooms under the eaves on the top floor (head height is limited) and a separate television room.
The property has a separate garage, which is in a block further down the road.
About the area
Nestled between Le Crêt du Merle, Etale and Beauregard, Chalet Zamaro is just a few metres away from some great skiing.
The chalet is less than 200m from the blue La Ruade piste, which descends into La Clusaz, and at the end of the day, competent skiers can ski through the trees straight to the back door. Less confident skiers can return to their starting point and walk the short distance back to the chalet.
Just minutes from the La Clusaz telecabine, and with the ski bus stopping 500m away from Chalet Zamaro, you have access to 220km of pistes and 95 lifts across La Clusaz, Le Grand Bornand and La Croix Fry, all covered by the Aravis ski pass, so there's plenty of scope for skiers of all abilities.
Chalet Zamaro overlooks the Beauregard plateau, which is a great choice for cross-country skiers, and there's plenty to do for non-skiers too. La Clusaz has an ice-skating rink and cinema, or you could try sledging, snowshoe walking, dog-sledding and sleigh rides.
If you're looking for the ultimate in relaxation, let your cares float away in the village's heated outdoor pool and spa. However you spend your day in the mountains, Chalet Zamaro will be a warm and welcoming haven to return to.
Summers at Chalet Zamaro are just as exciting! Hike into the Col des Aravis, or let the telecabine take you to the top of the mountain, so you can come back down at your own pace. Some of the many other activities available in the area include horse-riding, climbing, via ferrata and paragliding.
Mountain bikers head to La Clusaz to make the most of the many downhill, cross-country and MTB trails as well as a bike park. The Dahu trail is a great choice for beginners, whereas the more competent might prefer the Sud Aravis blue cross-country track. Those looking for a challenge should head for Le Danay, where a 13km circuit rewards riders with panoramic views of the French Alps. Road cyclists can join the renowned 700km Route des Grande Alpes or the Col des Aravis, which winds its way through cow pastures and hairpin bends to the summit, where you’ll enjoy a breathtaking view of Mont Blanc.
The mountains around La Clusaz are criss-crossed with tracks and paths, so why not take a picnic and make a day of it. If you just want to relax, why not soak up the sun from the balcony or the terraces at your chalet, while you admire the fabulous views.
Later, you can make the most of the long summer evenings at a local restaurant, or fire up the barbecue in the garden at Chalet Zamaro and cook up a feast.

The OVO Network Review
Chalet Zamaro is a contemporary terraced chalet for up to 12 people, with six bedrooms and three bath/shower rooms.
Set next to the slope just 3km from La Clusaz, it's the perfect location for two or three families looking for great skiing in the winter or direct access to mountain hikes and biking in the summer.
We love the ground floor bedroom, which opens on to the sunny terrace at the front of the house - what a wonderful place to sit with a drink and watch the setting sun! If the terrace is too hot in the summer, retire to the back garden, with its shady terrace and barbecue area. The secure garden is also a safe place for children to play.
Head height in the two twin bedrooms on the top floor is limited - we think this floor, with its separate TV/play room, is the perfect hideaway for older children.
If you are staying at Chalet Zamaro in the winter, make sure your car is fitted with snow tyres or chains - the access road is regularly cleared of snow, but at an altitude of 1300m, you will need the extra grip.
This is a great option for groups of up to 12, but if you are coming with a larger group, consider booking Chalet Zamaro with Chalet La Frasse or Chalet Charmar, which are both nearby.

From the owner
Jean-François
The recent renovation of Chalet Zamaro is the most recent chapter in a story of our family history. Since it was built in 1968, four generations of our family have spent wonderful winter and summer holidays here.
Just over 50 years ago, my father, his brothers and some friends decided to buy a large plot of land on the Crêt du Merle Road, at an altitude of 1300m, with stunning views of the Beauregard plateau. Their plan was to build five identical chalets where they could share their love of skiing and in the summer, hiking in the surrounding mountains and picking wild mushrooms and berries.
Every chalet would be totally separate, but would allow them to get together for a fondue in the winter, or a barbecue in the summer. They would enjoy a glass of Champagne together while they admire the sunset or perhaps the fireworks on New Year's Eve.
Our children, Mathilde and Robin, and our grandchildren all love the atmosphere of this family chalet, its special location (the views, the sunshine the tranquility and the nearby piste), so we decided to modernise it.
As it is not a traditional chalet, we wanted to make the most of its potential, inspired by the loft studio concept.
The result is everything we had hoped:
Set over four floors: a lovely ground-floor master suite opening on to a wooden terrace, a large living room with a fireplace, a kitchen and a long dining table opening onto a second large terrace on the first floor; three bedrooms on the first floor with two bathrooms and a bright loft area designed for children.
We were lucky to be able to re-use some wood from an old chalet, which has given Chalet Zamora a hint of that traditional Savoyard look.
We are happy to invite you to discover and enjoy our wonderful family chalet, and hope your holiday here is everything you would wish.
