About Chalet La Frasse ...
The owners of Chalet La Frasse spent several years visiting properties in La Clusaz before they found La Frasse.
It's not a typical Savoyard ski property by any means, but the owners immediately saw the potential of the terraced property, which ticked many of the boxes on their list of priorities: they wanted plenty of sunshine, the pistes on their doorstep and plenty of room for friends to come and stay. Chalet La Frasse offers all that and more, including stunning uninterrupted views over the Beauregard plateau.
This 4 star property has now been totally refurbished in a modern "loft" style, to offer the perfect base for a group of families or friends looking for a mountain holiday at any time of year.
Situated just a few minutes' drive (3km) from the busy town of La Clusaz, the property is just 150m from the La Ruade piste. It is on the road up to the restaurant "Chez Arthur" on the Crêt du Merle road, which is regularly cleared of snow in the winter. However, the altitude (1300m) means you should equip your car with snow chains.
In the summer you could walk down the piste into La Clusaz, but the return journey would be a bit of a challenge, unless you take the ski lifts!
Larger groups can book this chalet with neighbouring chalet, Chalet Charmar and Chalet Zamaro, which both sleep up to 12, so that you are all in the same area.
The property ...
Set over four floors, there are four double bedrooms, and the top floor beneath the eaves is dedicated to younger children. Chalet La Frasse sleeps 12 people (with a maximum of 8 adults).
As you come in to the chalet on the ground floor, there is a spacious hall with room to leave outdoor gear, and a utility room with space to dry wet clothing and boots. There is also a shower room and a double bedroom with doors opening on to the sunny front garden.
The open-plan living area on the next floor has a well-equipped kitchen with a breakfast bar, a dining area which opens on to the rear garden and a living room with access onto a balcony with beautiful views over the valley to the Beauregard plateau.
The stunning dining table has been made to measure, with iron legs from a printing press and a solid oak top made from reclaimed railway carriages. It's large enough for 12 people to enjoy dinner together before gathering on the cosy sofa around the wood-burning stove or the wall-mounted flat screen TV.
On the second floor, there is a spacious family bathroom, a separate toilet and three more double bedrooms, one of which is has an en suite shower room. Young guests will love the top floor, which has four single beds in one room and a TV in another one, and a play area. All of the rooms on this floor have low sloping ceilings (with limited headroom in some areas).
There is a steep sloping grass area to the rear, and a level communal play area above the garages, where children can play safely.
About the area ...
Nestled between Le Crêt du Merle, Etale and Beauregard, you are just a few metres away from some great skiing when you stay at Chalet La Frasse.
The La Ruade piste, a blue run that descends into La Clusaz, is just 150m away, and at the end of the day, competent skiers can ski through the trees straight to the back door, whilst less confident skiers can return to their starting point and walk the 150m back to the chalet.
Just minutes from the La Clusaz telecabine, and with the ski bus stopping 500m away, you have access to 220km of pistes and 95 lifts, all covered by the Aravis ski pass, so you will never be short of somewhere new to explore.
Chalet La Frasse overlooks the Beauregard plateau, which is a great choice for cross-country skiers, and there's plenty to do for non-skiers too. There's an ice-skating rink and cinema in La Clusaz, or you could try sledging, snow-shoe walking, dog-sledding and sleigh rides.
If you're looking for the ultimate in relaxation, let your cares float away in the village's heated outdoor pool and spa. Whatever you choose to do, at the end of the day there will be a warm welcome waiting at Chalet La Frasse.
There's no shortage of activities in the summer, either! Hike into the Col des Aravis, or let the nearby telecabine ferry you and your bike to the top of the mountain, so you can come back down at your own pace. Other activities available in the area include horse-riding, climbing, via ferrata and paragliding.
The mountains around La Clusaz are criss-crossed with tracks and paths, so take a picnic and make a day of it. If you just want to relax, why not soak up the sun from the balcony or the terrace while you admire the fabulous view of Beauregard, or visit the beautiful swimming pool complex in La Clusaz.
Later, you can make the most of the long summer evenings at a local restaurant, or fire up the barbecue in the garden at Chalet La Frasse.

The OVO Network Review
This 6 bedroom 3 bathroom terraced chalet for 12, is set over 4 floors, 150 metres squared of floor space. With an attic that has been transformed into a haven for children, with a play space as well as two bedrooms under the sloping eaves, the property on the road up to the Cret du Merle, has simply beautiful views across the trees to Beauregard in La Clusaz.
Chalet La Frasse is also next door neighbour to another OVO Network property - Chalet Charmar, with a capacity of 13, so for larger groups (up to 25) wanting to holiday with lots of friends, why not book both properties together?
The main living space has a large flat-screen TV and a wood-burning stove, in the large lounge area and a spacious dining room overlooking the garden to the rear of the property and the kitchen.
This property will be ideal for families with kids of similar ages, or for groups of friends. The access to the piste is good and within 150m, it's possible to ski back via the woods above the chalet to arrive in the back garden.
For those used to skiing and carrying skis around who prefer to be more remote from a busy resort, life couldn't get much better. The property isn't as ideal for complete beginners as they will have to ski to the school meeting point, which may be possible by the end of a week, but quite daunting if not impossible at the beginning! Time to get the car out of the garage instead, and drive down through the pretty ski station of La Clusaz en route.

From the owner
Donald
“Emmanuelle was born in Annecy and as a child she spent many weekends and holidays in La Clusaz. We visit the area frequently to see her family and to enjoy the mountains and the lake.
When we decided to start looking for our own place in the Alps, La Clusaz was the obvious place to start our search. It is a lively town all year round with easy access from Geneva airport or by train from the main cities.
It is also ideal for skiing, mountain-biking and hill-walking, whether you are an amateur or you like a challenge. Many activities are organised by the town and with its many shops, bars and restaurants, the town has something to offer for everyone.
We wanted a place that was large enough for friends and family to come and stay, that had direct access to the ski slopes, and also got the sunshine - not an easy combination to find in La Clusaz.
After several years of chalet hunting, we bought Chalet la Frasse in 2013. The property is located in the Cret du Merle area of La Clusaz at 1300m altitude.
To go skiing it is a short 150 metres walk to where you can put on your skis and traverse on to the La Ruade piste - a blue run which leads down to the village and the ski school departure area. It is possible to ski directly back to the chalet and enjoy the late afternoon sun in the front garden or the balcony.
We have now completely renovated the chalet and are looking forward to sharing it with you.
