Chalet Fernand

La Clusaz is a traditional farming village that has developed into a thriving ski resort. There's a packed programme of entertainment and festivals throughout the year, and the Famille Plus label ensures that there's always something going on to keep children entertained. Together with the stations of Le Grand Bornand and Manigod, there's 220km of pistes to discover.

In the summer, cyclists and walkers flock to the area for the wonderful mountain trails, and there's a huge choice of other activities, such as paragliding, riding, golf and swimming. The medieval lakeside town of Annecy just 32km away is a great day out - enjoy a boat trip on the lake, have lunch at a canal-side restaurant or pick up a bargain at the antiques market.

Up to 10 guests will find plenty of space at this bright and welcoming three-storey chalet.

As you enter on the ground floor, you'll come into the hall, where you'll find plenty of storage space for outdoor clothes. There's also access to the triple garage and the ski room, which has more storage and a heated boot rack. There's also a utility room on this floor with a sink, a washing machine and a tumble dryer.

There are two bedrooms on this floor - a double room with an en suite bathroom and another double with an en suite shower room.

The first floor is dedicated to the bright and spacious open-plan living area. There's a fully-equipped kitchen with a cooking island, and a long window over the worktop so that you can admire the view while you cook up a feast. The large dining table, with room for everyone to eat together is positioned in front of the doors to the terrace - the ideal place to enjoy a soak in the hot tub, an apero, or maybe a coffee after dinner. Alternatively, you could get together on the L-shaped sofa and armchairs around the fireplace or round off the perfect day in the mountains with a drink at the bar!

There are two more bedrooms on the top floor - the master suite has an en suite bathroom with a separate shower and WC as well as an office area for those who would like to work remotely. The final room is a family suite, with a kingsize/twin bed and two single beds and an en suite shower room.

With the lifts on your doorstep and an Aravis ski pass, you'll have access to 220km of pistes and 95 lifts, so you will never be short of somewhere new to explore. There’s great terrain for cross-country skiers at the nearby Confins and Beauregard plateaus.

It's a great location for non-skiers too, with the neighbouring ice-skating rink and a cinema in La Clusaz, as well as sledging, snow-shoe walking, dog-sledding and sleigh rides.

There's just as much going on in the summer, and when you stay at Chalet Fernand, you won’t need a car to enjoy everything the mountains have to offer.

Hike into the Col des Aravis, or let the telecabine ferry you to the top, so you can come back down at your own pace. Other activities available in the area include horse-riding, climbing, via ferrata and paragliding. The mountains around La Clusaz are criss-crossed with tracks and paths, so there is always somewhere new to discover.

Mountain bikers head to La Clusaz to make the most of the many downhill, cross-country and MTB trails as well as a bike park. The Dahu trail is a great choice for beginners, whereas the more competent might prefer the Sud Aravis blue cross-country track. Those looking for a challenge should head for Le Danay, where a 13km circuit rewards riders with panoramic views of the French Alps. Road cyclists can join the renowned 700km Route des Grande Alpes or the Col des Aravis, which winds its way through cow pastures and hairpin bends to the summit, where you’ll enjoy a breathtaking view of Mont Blanc.

The beautiful lakeside town of Annecy is just 30 minutes away by car, and is a great destination for a day out. The lake is said to be the cleanest in Europe and in the summer it’s a lovely place for water sports, cycling, swimming or you can just hire a boat and explore the lakeside beaches.

If you just want to relax, why not soak up the sun and the views from the hot tub on the terrace or balcony. Later you can catch up with friends and family over a barbecue at Chalet Fernand, as the sun sets behind the mountains.
