Chalet Ourson du Passieu

In the summer, the beautiful Lac de Flumet (5km) is the perfect place to swim or relax with a picnic. There's also a playground, a skatepark, a multi-sports area and a cafe, so take the family and make a day of it!

The two villages have several restaurants between them, and enough shops to provide everything you'll need during your stay - there's a small supermarket and a deli in Flumet, and bigger supermarkets can be found in Notre Dame de Bellecombe (8km) and Praz-sur-Arly (10km).

At the end of a fun-packed day in this beautiful area, you'll be happy to get back to Chalet Orson du Passieu where you can relax in the sauna, enjoy an evening in the garden (you may even be visited by chamois), or gather around the fire in the living room.

Access to the chalet is not a problem for most of the year, but during the winter you'll need a vehicle with winter tyres or snow chains to get right to the chalet.

About the property ...

This beautiful old farmhouse has been beautifully renovated to provide superb accommodation for 10 guests, with five bedrooms and five bathrooms over three floors.

There are two bedrooms on the ground floor - a double room with valley and mountain views and access to a balcony, and another large double with a dressing area and an en suite bathroom. There's also a separate shower room on this floor, as well as the sauna (with a shower) and the laundry room.

The main living area is on the first floor - this beautiful open-plan area has a cosy seating area where you can gather around the TV and a funky suspended fireplace, or enjoy a meal together at the huge dining table. The stylish, well-equipped kitchen has a central island where you can grab breakfast before you head out for the day, as well as a large fridge-freezer and a range cooker with two ovens. There's also a dishwasher, but you might prefer to wash up by hand when you see the great view of the ski slopes from the sink!

There are two more bedrooms on this floor - a double room with a desk and access to a balcony, and a bunk room with a mezzanine play area and an en suite shower room. There's also another shower room and a separate WC. These two rooms make a great family suite.

The stunning fifth bedroom is at the top of the chalet, and has the whole of the first floor to itself. As well as a stylish freestanding bath, a shower and a seating area, this bedroom has the most incredible view from the bed! There's also a home office area with a coffee machine and room for several work stations which, being at the top of the house, gives you complete privacy if you want to work remotely. And when it's time for a break, step out and enjoy the fresh air from the balcony.

There is parking outside the chalet for up to four vehicles.

About the area...

If you're visiting Chalet Ourson du Passieu in the winter, you'll have access to plenty of great skiing. The resort of Flumet-St Nicholas la Chapelle is part of the Val d'Arly ski area, which has 90km of pistes - perfect for a short stay. But there's plenty more to explore if you have the time.

A free shuttle bus links the villages to the Espace Diamant area (192km of pistes) at Les Evettes. The Espace Diamant ski pass also includes Notre Dame de Bellecombe and Crest Voland/Cohennoz. If you're still looking for more challenge, you can head for Megeve (15km), where you can explore the huge Evasion Mont Blanc area's 479km of slopes!

There's just as much to see and do in the summer too, with wonderful scenery to explore on foot or by bike, impressive Baroque architecture and the more relaxing Lac de Flumet leisure area, which is perfect for a family day out.

Walkers can enjoy gentle strolls along the banks of the Arrondine river, or head for the heights - there's a challenging 18.5km route that takes in the three peaks around Flumet. Cyclists will appreciate the free shuttle bus, complete with a trailer for your bikes, that runs along the Val d'Arly throughout the summer.

Spring and autumn are great times to visit the Val D'Arly too - the resorts and mountains are less crowded but nature is still spectacular. Why not consider working remotely from Chalet Ourson du Passieu? There are several office areas, and great wifi links.
