Chalet Vardache...
Situated just a few steps from Cordon's ski lifts and ski school, as well as a popular restaurant, this fabulous ski-in, ski-out chalet enjoys breathtaking views of the mountains and the valley below.
There's plenty of room for up to 13 guests at Chalet Vardache, who will appreciate the proximity to the pistes as well as the spacious living area, the en-suite bedrooms and the huge terrace where you can sit and watch the ski lifts pass overhead.
The slopes at Cordon are the perfect place to find your ski legs, but there's plenty of challenge in nearby Combloux, Les Contamines or Flaine. And after a day in the mountains, you can return to spend cosy evenings around the fire with friends and family.
Cordon is known as "the balcony of Mont Blanc" for its stunning views of France's highest mountain and the surrounding peaks. But despite its authentic character and relaxed pace of life, it offers easy access to great skiing, hiking, cycling and climbing
You'll find several shops, restaurants and bars in Cordon, but you can also get to Sallanches or Megève for more variety, with just a nine or 25-minute drive respectively.
About the property...
The spacious accommodation at Chalet Vardache is set over three floors.
The whole of the ground floor is devoted to a comfortable living area, with plenty of cosy seating for guests to gather in front of the fire and the television. There's room for everyone to eat together at the dining table, which is positioned right in front of the huge windows, which frame the incredible view of the Mont-Blanc mountains.
The kitchen has a large range cooker as well as an oven and microwave, a hob and two dishwashers, making it easy to cater for a large group. At the other end of the living room is a bar with stools, a wine fridge, storage and even a beer pump!
Doors lead off from the living area to the wraparound terrace where you can enjoy a spot of stargazing over coffee, or soak up the sun in the summer. There are two dining tables here, making it a great place for a barbecue.
There are five bedrooms on the top floor, including three double rooms with en-suite shower rooms. One of these rooms also opens onto the balcony. There's another double room with doors to the balcony and a cosy single room – these two rooms share a bathroom with WC. There's also a separate WC with a handbasin.
There are two more bedrooms on the lower ground floor – a double room and another room with bunk beds which share a shower room.
About the area...
For a small village, Cordon packs a big punch for winter sports. And when you stay at Chalet Vardache, you're right on the piste and just a 350m walk from the lift and the ski bus.
Cordon's ski field is small and family-friendly, but there’s plenty more skiing a little further afield – a 10-minute drive will take you to the Évasion Mont-Blanc area of Combloux, Megève, and Saint-Gervais. Beyond that, 30 minutes away, is the Espace Diamant, linking Praz-sur-Arly, Bellecombe, Crest-Volant, Flumet, and Saisies, which hosted the winter Olympics in 1992.
For an evening you will never forget, ski the eerily beautiful Vallée Blanche under a full moon – accompanied by a guide, this 23km run with a 2,000m drop will take you from the Aiguille du Midi to the Mer de Glace.
Other winter sports just minutes away from Chalet Vardache include dog-sledding, and snow-shoe walking.
There is just as much to do outside the ski season – the mountains are a magnet for walkers, cyclists and golfers. Mountain golf courses offer something a little bit special – fabulous views, clean crisp air and some challenging terrain. There are several golf courses to choose from within an easy drive of Chalet Vardache, including the Mont-d’Arbois course at Megève and the famous Chamonix course.
There are 80km of walking trails around Cordon itself, taking in waterfalls, farms and lush green pastures. Many of them are accessible directly from Chalet Vardache. The further you go, the more there is to discover, with more hiking at nearby Sallanches, Combloux, Megève, and Chamonix.
If you’re looking for adventure, why not try canyoning, rafting or hydrospeeding? More gentle water activities are available, with swimming lakes at Combloux, Flumet and Sallanches, where three lakes offer the choice of swimming, fishing and wind-surfing.
Cyclists can follow in the tracks of the Tour de France or choose from vertiginous mountain descents. The village is on a marked cycling trail and the Cordon climb is well-known.
Summer or winter, you can get a whole new perspective on the mountains from the air. Hot air ballooning, hang-gliding or a helicopter flight – the choice is yours. Whichever you choose, you’ll make memories that will last a lifetime.

The OVO Network Review
Chalet Vardache is a three-storey chalet for up to 13 guests, with seven bedrooms and five bath/shower rooms.
Formerly a mountain restaurant, it has been beautifully renovated and is now a spacious home with incredible views of the Mont Blanc Massif. The vast terrace, which was the restaurant's outside dining area, is now a spacious sitting and dining area where you can soak up the sun, watch for shooting stars, enjoy a meal together or just marvel at the view!
The beautiful living area has a large but cosy seating area where you can curl up in front of the fire to watch a film. There's also a bar with a wine fridge, storage and a beer pump – another throwback to Chalet Vardache's days as a restaurant.
There's room for everyone to sit down and eat at the dining table, which is positioned in front of the large windows so that you don't miss a second of the views.
There are four double bedrooms on the top floor, three of which have en-suite shower rooms.
Two of them open onto the balcony.
There's also a single bedroom, a bathroom with a WC and another separate WC.
This very special chalet is set close to the lifts and right on the pistes, making it possible to ski in and out in the winter. Outside the ski season, there are wonderful walks from your door, and plenty of routes for cyclists.
You'll need a car to make the most of your holiday at Chalet Vardache, as it is 4.5km from the village of Cordon, which has a few shops and restaurants. However, there is plenty more to discover in Sallanches (9km) and Combloux (8km).
