About the property ...
Accommodation at Chalet Alphonse is set over three floors. The main door leads into a spacious hallway with a desk and plenty of storage. On your right is a WC, a ski room with a heated boot rack, and access to the garage.
The rest of this floor is devoted to a stylish, open-plan living area. Cooking is a pleasure in the fully-equipped kitchen, which has electric and steam ovens, a kitchen robot, a wine cabinet, pressure cooker and food processor. There's a central island, and a large dining table where everyone can eat together. Doors open on to the furnished balcony, which runs around two sides of the chalet to make the most of the view of the valley and the children's ski area. It's the perfect place to relax with a drink or, when the weather allows, enjoy a barbecue.
Back inside, there's a sociable seating area with a large L-shaped sofa in front of the fire. Gather here after dinner for coffee and conversation, curl up with a good book or perhaps a board game.
Those who would rather watch television will find another seating area on the mezzanine floor with sofas, a TV, a PlayStation 5 and table football. Younger guests will love having this space to play while the adults relax downstairs.

But perhaps the highlight of this floor is the wonderful wellness area, with a sauna big enough for 10 people and an exercise area with weights, an exercise bike, a rowing machine and a smart TV.
There is parking in the garage for one car, with space for up to five more in front of the chalet.
About the area ...
Chalet Alphonse is in a quiet location just a 15-minute walk from the centre of the Châtel, a popular mountain resort in the Portes du Soleil ski domain. The shuttle bus stops just 200m from the door, and the Linga gondola is 1.4km away.
The Super-Châtel / Barbossine and Linga / Pre la Joux/ Plaine Dranse sectors that surround the village have 41 ski lifts and 45 slopes, providing plenty of scope for all ages and abilities.
Châtel is still a traditional farming village, retaining its Savoyard architecture and character. But the growth in ski tourism means it now boasts some wonderful restaurants, both on and off the slopes. There's also a great aquatic centre with spa facilities, as well as indoor and outdoor pools, and a popular indoor play centre for younger children.
In the summer, there is a huge choice of trails for hikers and bikers, and those with a taste for adventure can try the Fantasticable - a zipwire which will have you hurtling between the mountains at up to 100kph.
There are plenty of places to explore around Châtel too - the picturesque medieval village of Yvoire, on the banks of Lake Geneva, is just an hour away and the beautiful Chateau de Chillon, near Montreux, is even closer.
Châtel is easily accessible from Geneva airport, either by car (about 90 minutes), train or bus. Or you could arrive in style by booking a helicopter transfer!

The OVO Network Review
Chalet Alphonse is a three-storey chalet for up to 10 guests (eight adults) with four bedrooms, five bathrooms, a sauna and exercise area.
Situated on the road which links the village to the Linga gondola, it's close to the centre of the village and the lift, and you can be sure that the road will be regularly cleared of snow. But with the ski bus stopping just a few steps from your door, you may choose to park up your car and forget about it for the duration of your stay!
With two en suite bedrooms on the first floor (a master suite and a bunk room for four) and two more on the lower ground floor (two doubles, each with access to the lower terrace), there's a good degree of privacy for everyone.
There are also two separate seating areas - one with a large sofa in front of the fire and another on the mezzanine landing with a TV and table football. This layout means that those looking for a little peace and quiet won't be disturbed!
The open-plan living area opens on to a spacious furnished balcony which wraps around two sides of the house so that you can chase the sun. There's plenty of room to eat out here in the summer, and in the winter, you can wrap up and enjoy some stargazing.
If you'd rather spend your evening in the hot tub, you'll find it on the lower terrace - just off the wellness area, which has a sauna, shower and exercise room.
With such wonderful facilities and a stylish, contemporary decor, we think Chalet Alphonse is the perfect base for a mountain holiday at any time of year.

From the owner
Sylvain & Laurent
Our chalet is the culmination of a project carried out with passion by the whole family.
Laurence's grandparents, Fernande and Alphonse, were living in the mountains when the first winter resorts came into existence. In fact, before the arrival of ski lifts, Fernande practised the telemark, the forerunner of downhill skiing, A woman of strong character, she defied the rules by swapping dresses for trousers so that she could ski more easily.
Alphonse, on the other hand, was a forager and loved to climb the slopes in search of everything nature had to offer: mushrooms, berries, gentian...
Laurence grew up on the shores of Lake Geneva in Thonon-les-Bains, and her sporty parents still live there. So it's only natural that she should pass on her love for this beautiful Chablais region, and in particular for Châtel, to her husband Laurent and her children Florian, Sylvain and Clara.
We all have unforgettable memories of days skiing, hiking, cycling and fishing.
We have hectic working lives and are scattered across the four corners of France, so we thought of this chalet as a haven of peace where we could meet up and enjoy the simple, healthy mountain life of our ancestors.
We hope that you can find your happy place here too!

Guest reviews
“Spacious chalet with stunning views”
Well-designed and tastefully decorated chalet. Very spacious bedrooms and bathroom. Well-located chalet with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains thanks to its slightly lower position in the village of Châtel. An improvement would be a jacuzzi, considering the rental price.
“Chalet Alphonse is of the highest quality”
A lot of love has clearly gone into its design and maintenance. It was impeccably clean and has so many touches that add to the warm, cozy and welcoming feeling of the house. The house is really well equipped, especially the kitchen, and it was great to be able to use the raclette sets for an evening meal. The chalet is well situated within a 10-minute walk of the village.
“Adventure in the mountains”
We had a great stay at Chalet Alphonse. On the agenda: hiking, paragliding, rafting with the family.
