About Chalet Le Meridien Etale ...
Chalet Le Meridien Etale is the perfect place to immerse yourself in Savoyard life.
This traditional Alpine property takes up the lower two floors of a superbly restored chalet, with furniture and finishing touches chosen carefully to reflect its location.
Sleeping 7, it can also be rented together with Chalet Le Meridien Tournette, on the floor above, to accommodate up to 15, although both properties are self-contained, have their own entrances, parking and outdoor spaces, and are sound insulated.
The property is just a short walk from Manigod village, where you can pick up fresh bread from the boulangerie or enjoy a traditional meal at Val Sulens restaurant, and is perfectly placed to enjoy all the activities the La Clusaz area has to offer.
The property ...
You'll appreciate the comfort and warmth of Chalet Le Meridien Etale when you return to it after an energetic day in the mountains.
The door opens straight in to the fabulous farmhouse kitchen, with a range-style double oven and a huge pine table, where everybody can get together for a fondue or a raclette and discuss the highlights of the day. In good weather, there's a large covered terrace with a big dining table, so you can all eat al fresco, and there is also a new enclosed games room with table tennis and table football.
After dinner, retire to the cosy living room, in which a bay window has recently been integrated with new light fittings, with its woodburning stove, to continue the conversation. With the separate TV room, there's a place for everyone.
On a clear night, you'll love to sit out on the large south-facing balcony and watch for shooting stars, perhaps before heading to the terrace for a nordic bath session, or downstairs for a sauna to ease aching limbs.
Chalet Le Meridien Etale sleeps 7, in four comfortable bedrooms. There are two double rooms, a family room with a double and a single bed, and a children's room with two sets of bunk beds. There's a shower room on the main floor and a bathroom on the lower floor with the sauna and laundry room. The water heater was recently replaced at the end of 2023.
About the area ...
Chalet Le Meridien Etale is just a few minutes' drive from the Croix Fry ski station, so you'll be able to make the most of every minute on the slopes.
Parking there is free, but if you don't want to take the car, the ski bus stops just 100m from your door. From Croix Fry, your Aravis ski pass covers 220km of slopes and 95 lifts, from La Clusaz to Le Grand Bornand.
Cross-country skiers will find plenty of trails on the nearby Beauregard plateau, and non-skiers are not forgotten, with an ice skating rink and cinema in La Clusaz, as well as sledging, snow-shoe walking, dog-sledding and horse-drawn sleigh rides.
For the ultimate relaxation, let your cares float away at the heated indoor/outdoor pool at La Clusaz, as the snow falls gently around you!
In summer, just as in winter, the fun centres around Chalet Le Meridien Etale's stunning Alpine location.
Explore the mountains on foot, either from the door, or take the ski lift to higher altitudes and come back down at your own pace. You can take your bike too - pick up a route of graded mountain bike trails at the tourist office in La Clusaz. Gentler walking and glorious views can be found on the Beauregard plateau - take a picnic and plenty of water!
Adrenalin junkies can try paragliding, canyoning, climbing, via ferrata or white-water rafting - just some of the activities on offer within a few miles of Manigod. Adventure parks at Le Grand Bornand and Thônes provide tree-top fun for all ages.
A day out to the beautiful lakeside town of Annecy is a must. Explore the shops and museums in the morning, lunch at a lakeside restaurant, and you've got the rest of the day to swim in the crystal-clear waters, hire a boat or try some of the water sports on offer.
If you would rather stay closer to home you will really appreciate the spacious covered games room with table tennis and table football.

The OVO Network Review
From the outside Chalet le Meridien looks like some of the other south-facing converted farms in the Manigod valley, but Chalet le Meridien is a farm conversion with a difference!
With magnificent views over the nearby village to the splendid mountains beyond, a quick glance at the websites for each of the two apartments within, reveal Tournette is a contemporary, light-flooded 205m2 space for 7 people, with 4 bedrooms and two bathrooms, whereas Etale, is a 4 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment for 7 people, with a more traditional cosy feel, lower ceilings, and smaller windows.
With 165m2 of space, Etale is spread over two floors, the living spaces and bedrooms are on the main floor, then a family bathroom, the sauna, and the laundry area are located on the basement level.
Together these two apartments can accommodate up to 15 people in 8 bedrooms with 4 bathrooms. All 15 guests can eat together in the large dining space at Tournette, there are enough chairs, tables, crockery, cutlery, glassware etc for all.
Depending on the intended meals, both oven/ food prep areas/ fridges may or may not be required !
Both four star apartments have wood burning stoves, and indoor saunas. Out of doors both apartments have their own nordic baths.
Both have independent terraces well stocked with outdoor furniture, both have gardens, and independent car parking spaces. There is good sound proofing between the floors, the only time you may be aware of your neighbours is if you are both using the south facing balconies at the same time.
If you prefer not to be overlooked, the other outdoor terraces are more private.
Indoors, Tournette has side zones off the main communal space for watching TV, listening to music or reading, a home office area, and laundry area.
Etale has a fabulous indoor games area with table tennis and bar football, plus a dormitory room with two sets of bunk beds. There is a double lounge around the wood-burning stove, a separate TV room, and a combined kitchen /dining room.
Please refer to the floor plans for more details. Both properties are well set up for multi-generational groups or groups of friends, work colleagues or a great big family!

Our first visit to the Manigod/ La Clusaz area, was 18 years ago, when we came to spend a summer holiday beside beautiful lake Annecy.
We not only wanted to enjoy the lake but also to walk in the surrounding mountains. That’s why we went to Manigod and La Clusaz, and discovered that it wasn’t only the lake that was fantastic but also this beautiful valley nestled in the heart of the French Alps.
There was definitely something special about the area, something of “old Europe”, meaning no high-rise buildings, only lovely wooden chalets.
This was exactly the kind of ski resort we were looking for, the kind you don’t come across very often these days. This was the perfect place for us! That is how we immediately fell in love with this part of the Aravis mountain range.
We decided that the area was a fantastic place to invest in a second home, where we could spend winter and summer holidays. We were lucky enough to find a lovely chalet near Thônes but as our family grew bigger, with friends of our children often joining us for holidays, we decided after seven years to sell our first chalet and finally found our current chalet “Le Méridien”.
We knew by now that this was the ideal area for us, for summer and ski seasons. The Méridien was exactly the kind of chalet we had in mind with traditional features, wooden beams, open fire etc.
First we worked on the downstairs apartment , which is now called “Chalet L’Etale” and later we converted the attic to make the the upstairs apartment, “Chalet Tournette”.
As half of our family are snowboarders and the rest skiers, our favourite ski area is “Croix Fry” (Manigod) From there we often leave on a daytrip on the slopes, meeting up later at “Chez Fon Fon” , a lovely little cafe/ restaurant on the slopes where we can warm up around traditional dishes like fondue and raclette.
The view over the mountains from Merdassier and Croix Fry is absolutely breathtaking.
The ski bus is about 100 meters away from the chalet, which is quite convenient if one of us wants to leave or come back earlier. We have had so many memorable holidays here, especially now that both apartments are finished: it means we can easily accommodate up to 15 people without feeling crowded.
We love to have walks from the chalet into the mountains, whether it is in summer or in wintertime, before gathering together and sharing dinner and stories sitting at the long table together.
In summer we love to go swimming in the lake Annecy, the cleanest lake in Europe. We enjoy sailing as well, which allows us to take a dip in the middle of the lake, far from the crowds, before stopping for a meal in one of the restaurants on the lake’s shore.
Our favourite is Restaurant “ La Guinguette”, just outside Talloires, with its old-fashioned romantic atmosphere. In a few words, Manigod is just the right hideaway for our family to get away from our busy daily life.
We hope you’ll enjoy it just as much as we do.
