About Chalet de Paul et Marie ...
Chalet de Paul et Marie is one of a pair of newly-renovated 4-star semi-detached chalets close to the charming village of Manigod and just 1km from some great skiing at Croix Fry.
Set over three levels, it is ideal for families wishing to holiday together. Larger groups can also be accommodated by renting Chalet de Paul et Marie with the next door Chalet Lydie - together the two properties sleep up to 16 people comfortably.
Chalet Lydie has a large living area to accomodate everyone, and an extending table where larger groups can eat together. Access between the chalets is via the balcony off the main area - convenient for groups but if you only want to book one of the chalets, the access can be locked off and your privacy guaranteed.
The views from this south-facing chalet are incredible - from your terrace you can admire the stunning Aravis valley, framed by Etale, Sulens and Mont Charvin.
Note : during winter season please make sure to have snow tires and chains for your vehicles, since the access to the chalet is rather steep.
The property ...
Despite its traditional appearance from outside, Chalet de Paul et Marie's stunning contemporary interior is designed to make the most of the mountain views and light. Bleached woods and neutral tones perfectly complement faux fur and wool textiles and splashes of colour.
The property is set over two floors with access to a basement where you can store ski equipment or bikes.
The spacious open-plan living area is on the ground floor, with a well-equipped kitchen and dining area. A large corner sofa and pouffes provide the perfect place to watch television or gather around the log burner, and sliding double doors open on to the balcony, which overlooks the valley. There's a double bedroom on this floor, as well as a toilet and a bathroom.
There are three more bedrooms upstairs, all of which have double beds or ziplink beds which can be made into twins. The two bedrooms at the front of the property open on to a balcony - the perfect place for your first morning coffee! There is a second bathroom and wc on this floor.
About the area ...
Skiers and boarders will love Chalet de Paul et Marie, which is just a few minutes’ drive from the lifts at Croix Fry. If you’d rather not take the car out, the ski bus stops just 350m from your door.
There’s an ESF ski school base at Croix Fry, where beginners can find their feet on the gentle nursery slopes. Those with more experience can ski here or explore the 220km of pistes between La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand, which are all covered by the Aravis ski pass. Competent skiers can even ski back to the chalet!
There are plenty of trails for cross-country skiers on the nearby Beauregard plateau, where you an also enjoy snow shoe trails, with views across to Mont Blanc.
If there are non-skiers in your party, they can enjoy heated indoor and outdoor swimming pools at La Clusaz as well as an ice-skating rink and cinema. You could also try dog-sledding, sleigh rides or the local specialty - paret sledging!
You’ll never be stuck for something to do in the Aravis valley in the summer.
There’s no shortage of walks, from mountain trails to hiking on the Gliéres plateau, the scene of the Resistance’s campaign against the German army in World War II. The ski lifts will take walkers or cyclists and their bikes up the mountains, so they can come down at their own pace, and adrenalin junkies can try paragliding, canyoning, climbing, or white-water rafting within a few miles of Manigod.
Via ferrata is another great family day out, with children as young as eight able to explore the mountains secured to a harness. You’ll have plenty of experiences to share back at the chalet, perhaps over a beer and a barbecue on the terrace as the sun sets.
What next?
If you'd like to spend your next mountain holiday at Chalet de Paul et Marie, check the available dates on our calendar. If you need to check with the rest of your party we can hold the property for 24 hours. But don't wait any longer than that - we'd hate you to miss out on a great holiday!

The OVO Network Review
Chalet Paul et Marie is a 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom property for 8 with100m2 of floor space spread over 3 floors.
Larger groups of up to 16 can hire this recently renovated semi-detached chalet with it's sister chalet, Chalet Lydie. Combined the two 4 star properties have 8 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and 200m2 of floor space.
Both Chalet Paul et Marie and Chalet Lydie have Cool for kids status, meaning they have lots of extra equipment, much appreciated by families holidaying with young children. Guests staying in both chalets love the decor, layout, well equipped kitchen, comfy beds, and new bathrooms.
The owners put a great deal of thought, effort, care and attention into providing all that their guests might require to enjoy a peaceful, calm holiday.
Nature lovers will be happy - the chalet overlooks a meadow below and is surrounded by trees and mountains, with walks from the front door, wildlife over the threshold and spectacular Alpine views.
Winter sports enthusiasts will be happy as the property is less than 1km away form the ski fields at La Croix Fry, with great ski links to La Clusaz. In fact when snow conditions are favourable, guests with the will and skill to try, can, in theory snow shoe, sledge or ski back to the chalet.
Off piste and at their own risk of course!
Summer guests will be happy too - they can enjoy and appreciate the walking, cycling, wild life, flora and fauna spotting and via ferrata opportunities.
The chalet is a drive way from the nearest supermarket so stock up either in Thones (or Merdassier in season), before heading up to the chalet. There are several restaurants close by, and the local baker offers fresh bread deliveries.
If you are planning a winter stay at Chalet Paul et Marie or Chalet Lydie, remember snow doesn't only fall on the pistes, it also falls on the roads and drives! Don't get caught out by arriving in a car which is not properly equipped for Alpine winter road conditions. The drive down to the chalet from the main road has been tarmaced to enable easier and more efficient snow clearing.
Chalet Paul et Marie welcomes pets, so the dog or cat can also enjoy the full on moiuntain experience too!
Enjoy!

From the owner
Marie & Paul
“ My grandmother Lydie inherited this chalet from her parents Louise and Constant.
After she retired, she loved spending every summer in the chalet, from June to mid-October, although it wasn't terribly comfortable. She came with her husband André, who was also born in Manigod.
My parents brought her groceries and supplies at weekends and I often spent my summer holidays here with my grandparents and my cousins.
When I married Paul, he also fell in love with the place. He enjoyed renovating the place with local craftsmen, bringing it up to a high level of comfort.
Along with our two daughters, Céline and Aurélie, we spent our holidays here with family and friends, and they have kept the tradition up.
We love the peace and freedom of this chalet in the heart of nature, surrounded by mountains. We hope you will also have some wonderful moments here.

Guest reviews
“Stunning views, always pleasant”
Our third stay here. Always pleasant with a superb view
“Tranquil mountain stay with views”
The chalet is located in a quiet area and offers breathtaking views. Additionally, it has a private garden (not fenced). It is fully equipped (kitchen, bedding, garden furniture, washing machine, dryer, television) with quality materials. It is perfectly soundproofed (we never heard our neighbors). Access to the chalet is via a rural path that leads to the chalet's carport. It is a dead-end road, so tranquility is guaranteed. The email exchanges and on-site contact were very friendly, from booking through the steps to follow (deposit, security deposit...), to the handing over of keys and our departure. Everything was well-organized, with no unpleasant surprises, and we had answers to all our questions.
“A great stay in the mountains!”
Great location, magnificent view, excellent comfort, and very good welcome.
