About Chalet Colombine ...
Always a favourite with OVO Network guests, Chalet Colombine has now been beautifully renovated and extended by its new owners to offer even more!
This refurbished 5 star farm, which was built in 1850, now sleeps up to 15 people in seven bedrooms with seven bathrooms. It also has a private cinema and a fabulous indoor swimming pool (5mx3mx1.5m) with a relaxation area and its own film screen!
Situated in Les Villards-sur-Thônes, the chalet is a two-minute drive from the main road between St-Jean-de-Sixt and Thônes, and from a large supermarket. The ski resorts of La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand are both just five minutes drive from St-Jean-de-Sixt, so you've got great skiing in both directions. You will need a car, and there are four parking spaces outside the chalet.
When you stay at Chalet Colombine you've got the best of all worlds, winter and summer, as the chalet is in the mountains and yet within a 30 minute drive of the beautiful lakeside town of Annecy.
The property...
Children will love the bedroom on the attic floor – a dormitory-style room with eight built-in bunks and a TV corner. It's like having a sleepover every night!
On the ground floor there's a double bedroom and bathroom as well as the main open plan living area. There's a sleek kitchen, utility room, and two dining areas - children have their own dining corner and there's also a huge bespoke dining table that seats up to 15 guests. Set in front of the stunning view, it's the perfect setting for a celebration meal. The room opens on to a furnished terrace with a fire pit, and another terrace with a hot tub runs the length of the property. There is a further furnished stone terrace as you arrive at the property, so you can always find a place in the sun, whatever the time of day.
The main sitting area is perfect for cosy nights in front of the fire, but perhaps the most exciting feature is the glass panel in the floor, from which you can see the indoor swimming pool and lounge area on the floor below! There's a separate seating area, with a bar and TV, is a great space for a relaxed evening, or you could enjoy a bit of a tournament at the ping pong table.
The lower floor is also home to the sauna, where you can relax after a busy day in the mountains. Upstairs there's another sitting area, a games room with pool table and a juke box which you can play from your phone or tablet. Off this room is a luxurious private cinema with reclining seats and there's another play area on the landing. This floor is also home to five of the bedrooms, four of which are en suite, and a family bathroom. All of the bedrooms have French and English power sockets as well as USB points - vital for charging phones, tablets and laptops.
The most recent addition is a ski room with heated boot rack and changing room near the jacuzzi. A laundry room has also been added.
The chalet is decorated throughout in classy neutral shades, with lots of throws and cushions, making it a great place to relax at the end of a busy day. The new owners have done a fantastic job renovating this popular chalet, so if it's the one for you, don't miss your chance to book it!
About the area ...
You couldn’t chose a more perfect location to make the most of the La Clusaz slopes.
Halfway between La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand ski resorts, you can ski somewhere new every day.Your Aravis ski pass also covers the Manigod area, giving you 220km of pistes of varying levels to explore, as well as extensive off-piste action.
Cross-country skiers will discover trails from St-Jean-de-Sixt - pick up a map from the village tourist office. Non-skiers are well catered for too, and can go ice skating or swimming in La Clusaz, where the heated indoor and outdoor pools are open all year round, or try snowshoeing, sledging, dog-sledding and sleigh rides.
There's just as much to do in the spring and summer at Chalet Colombine. The village of St-Jean-de-Sixt, just minutes from the chalet, is one of the few places where you can try Bun-J ride, a cross between ski jumping and bungee jumping! Other more traditional pastimes are available too - marked footpaths crisscross the mountains, or you can explore by mountain bike or on horseback.
There are indoor and outdoor swimming pool complexes in Le Grand Bornand, La Clusaz and Thônes, or if you're looking for something a little more challenging, there are climbing schools, via ferrata routes, tree-top adventure parks, canyoning, white-water rafting and paragliding all nearby.
If you would prefer to relax at the chalet, the landscaped gardens are the perfect place, with a large deck, and a seating area with a fire pit and jacuzzi. There is also a boules piste for those with a little more energy!

Please Note
There is a possibility that in winter you may need to park your car on the side of the road at the bottom of the approx 80 m long drive and walk up to the chalet. Please make sure not to park in a way that would prevent access to the drive as our neighbour sometimes needs to use it.
Please ensure your vehicle is properly equipped for driving in the Alps in winter.
Note about bedroom 7 (Dormitory) : 8 x single beds, 2 in each alcove (90 X 200cm) with an ensuite bathroom. The mattresses are next to each other and are not able to be separated as they are built in alcoves, as seen on the website photos.
PLEASE NOTE that the maximum occupancy of the property is 15 people. In accordance with the fire safety regulations, the property complies with the provisions of the January 31, 1986 decree (later amended) for residential buildings. Therefore, although the property has beds for 20 people, the maximum occupancy of the chalet must not exceed 15 in order for it to comply with the provisions of the decree of 22 June 1990 related to establishments that provide public access.

Chalet Colombine has been completely renovated since it was purchased, indoors and out - really the best way to appreciate this amazing project in a traditional Savoyard farmhouse is to check out the photography. The floor plans and video will help put the rooms, features and too numerous to mention luxurious facilities and features into context floor by floor.
Don't just take our word for it, the guest reviews tell the story from a guests point of view. The chalet lacks for nothing, this unusual property is packed full of personality and surprises.
The beds are comfortable, linens, towels, tableware and glassware of good quality, the owners and their design team have thought of everything. The chalet is a complete oasis indoors and out.
It's a great base for multigenerational families, several families or groups of friends, for celebrations, for self indulgence, for relaxation. No matter what the occasion, Chalet Colombine will be the setting for some very special memories.
The situation of the property above the main road up to La Clusaz/Grand Bornand ensures good access to the local mountains and villages all year round. Vehicles must be properly equipped for the snow in winter.
Annecy with its beautiful lake and the canalised old town, and Geneva, are both within an hour's drive, so good obvious choices for day trips, if you feel the need to leave this fabulous chalet.

Being based overseas, when we first decided to look for our perfect family chalet in the French Alps, location and proximity to an airport was the first logical step. The second step was to combine prime location with charm and tranquility. Chalet Colombine offers exactly that.
Just one hour's drive away from Geneva airport, it sits proudly and quietly on a hillside only 10 minutes from the renowned ski resorts of La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand and a smooth 20 minute-downhill drive to the edge of the pristine waters of lake Annecy.
Knowing that it ticked all the boxes location wise was a must for our family, but it was the chalet's unique character that made us fall in love with it instantly. The rustic facade opens up to an even warmer and cosier interior.
Our first stay in the chalet in March 2015 confirmed our first impression, that its size would easily accommodate three families and still provide a feeling of individual privacy and personal space. The sports addicts headed up to the slopes while the lazier ones enjoyed the jacuzzi, sauna or quite simply a good read by the fireplace.
It became clear to us that Chalet Colombine offers a true home away from home, where we will undoubtedly create lasting memories with our young ones as they grow up spending their summers hiking in the mountain range, sailing on the lake and their winters inviting their friends to enjoy all the thrills these snowy mountains have to offer.
Renovation project:It was always our goal to find a property with the right potential for expansion to accommodate our growing family as well as our friends while offering all the amenities we could possibly dream of. Who says you can't have an authentic chalet with room for 15 people, a heated swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi, a billiards room and a home cinema? Well our dream has finally come true !
