Situated just 200m from the Vercland cable cars, near Samoëns, this superb ski-in, ski-out apartment for 10 guests has six balconies, so you'll never be short of a fabulous view of the valley and mountains.
There's a popular bar and restaurant at the lifts and many more in the traffic-free centre of Samoëns (2km), where narrow streets lead off the main square with its traditional church and fountain. There’s a free bus every 20 minutes in the high season, which will take you to the pistes at Morillon and Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval.
Samoëns has all the shops you are likely to need during your holiday – delis, supermarkets and bakeries, as well as gift shops, ski and bike rental. As part of the Grand Massif ski area, it has links to more than 265km of pistes and a great lift network. There's still plenty to do when the snow melts, with hiking and biking trails passing close to the chalet, as well as a treetop adventure park, whitewater rafting and a range of sports facilities at the Lac aux Dames leisure centre.
About the property...
When you arrive at MontCriou, you'll enter via the impressive private stairwell, where you'll find a cupboard for your outdoor shoes, boots and skis. Head up to the hall, which leads to three of the bedrooms. Two of the bedrooms can be arranged with a kingsize or twin beds. The master bedroom has an en-suite shower room and a utility room, as well as a useful desk area for guests who would like to work remotely during their stay. All of the bedrooms have doors onto terraces, where you can enjoy your first coffee of the day. There is also a shower room on this floor.
There are two more bedrooms on the upper floor – the first has a large double bed and access to a balcony, and the second can be arranged with a kingsize or twin beds. These rooms share a shower room with a WC.
The rest of the upper floor is dedicated to the open-plan living area. There's a well-equipped kitchen with an induction hob, oven, dishwasher, fridge-freezer and microwave, and a breakfast bar. There's also a large dining table where everyone can eat together. The bright seating area has a sofa as well as several chairs and stools, arranged in front of the television. Three balconies open off the living area onto the balcony where you can enjoy an apero, soak up the sun or watch what's going on in the village.
The apartment has two parking spaces, one of which is covered, and a charging point for electric cars.
About the area...
Whether you're visiting in summer or winter, you'll never be short of something to do at MontCriou in Samoëns.
The ski lifts connect with the Grand Massif resorts of Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval, Flaine and Les Carroz, giving you easy access to 265km of great skiing, with plenty of challenges for all abilities. Snowfall is regular and abundant, and there are three jam parks for freestylers.
In the summer, there's great hiking and biking in the mountains, as well as watersports on the Giffre river. The Lac Bleu leisure area (5km) is a great day out for families – there's a beach area for swimming as well as horse-riding, treetop adventure area, Segway, electric skateboards and much more. Youngsters can enjoy the pump track, play areas, inflatables and trampolines, and trout fishing is free for those staying in the area.
The village of Sixt-Fer-a-Cheval, just 11 minutes drive away (8.4km), is worth a visit – said to be one of the most beautiful villages in France, it's set in a natural amphitheatre of high limestone cliffs. It's also the start of some great white-water rafting and home to a via ferrata course.
Those who like gardening should pay a visit to Samoën's Jaÿsinia Alpine Gardens, which features plants from mountainous regions across the world.

Just 200m from the lifts at Vercland, near Samoëns, is a great choice for a group who want fast access to the Grand Massif mountains, in a fairly quiet location. The family-friendly resort of Samoëns is just a short drive away, and is a popular lunch stop for skiers and walkers.
The apartment has its own impressive entrance – a glass-covered stairwell with a ski locker and room to store outdoor shoes and boots. The stairs lead up to the lower floor, where you'll find three of the five bedrooms: two double rooms which can be arranged with kingsize or twin beds, and another double with an en-suite shower room.
All of these bedrooms open onto balconies. There's also a shower room and a laundry room on this floor.
