Seven Activities to Enjoy in Les Gets This Winter (2/2)

There are plenty of activities for you to choose from if you want to make the most of the mountains and the scenery in Les Gets without putting on your skis.

We’ve put together a list of seven activities you can try if you’re coming to Les Gets for your next winter holiday. Read on to find out more, and click here if you want to know more about the resort and its amenities!

What to do in Les Gets this winter

1. Try snowshoeing

Whether you are a walker or a sporty type looking for a new challenge, snowshoeing is the perfect activity to try on a winter holiday in the mountains.

Les Gets is the perfect place to enjoy this activity. There are plenty of hiking trails crisscrossing the area, which allow everyone to enjoy the wonderful winter landscapes.

If you’re looking for a family outing, try one of the many routes listed in this guide (French only).

Adventurers hoping to discover unknown territory (to them at least!) can hire a guide, a ski instructor or a mountain leader who will take you safely off the beaten tracks.

2. Relax in a spa

There’s nothing better after a good walk in the snow than a few hours of relaxation. Fortunately, Les Gets has plenty of spas and well-being centres, offering a wide range of relaxing therapies. Body treatments, massages, spa baths and saunas… there’s something for all tastes, all needs and every budget! Here are just a few:

  • Fancy a “Mountain Chic” ambience with quality natural products and a wide choice of relaxing, energising or sports therapies? It’s all waiting at Spa Les Sources du Chéry.
  • A unique experience is promised at the Clair Moment well-being centre. Enjoy a massage on your own or with a friend, facials or even a nail bar…
  • Madagascar Escape, Pacific island rituals, Vietnamese massage… enjoy a multi-sensory trip around the world when you step into the Spa Sereni Cimes.

A spa experience is also a great way to spend a rainy day!

3. Dive beneath the ice

If you’re looking for an unusual experience, ice diving could be just what you need. It’s an opportunity to test your limits and face the extreme temperatures of Lake Montriond.

Of course, you’ll be accompanied by an expert throughout your dive, and you’ll be provided with all the equipment you need to make the most of this serene and tranquil experience.

It’s an unmissable experience when you visit Les Gets. Check out the Aquaventure website (French only) to book your session.

4. Go sledge racing

There’s nothing like a sledging trip for a good day out with family and friends.

As well as being something that can be enjoyed by all ages, it also doesn’t have to cost much. You can hire a sledge in one of the many sports shops in Les Gets for about €10 per day.

5. Let off steam in a sports or fitness class

What better way to build up your appetite for a raclette dinner than a good fitness class?

There are several gyms in the centre of Les Gets – try Fitlife, Energym or Sport’N Chéry (websites in French).

There are plenty of activities to choose from – cardio sessions, muscle strengthening, pilates, Zumba, stretching… Whether you want to try one-to-one or join a class, you’ll be accompanied by a professional who will use their experience to push you to your limits safely.

6. Cross-country skiing

Don’t let the arrival of the winter and the lower temperatures put you off getting out for a walk! A cross-country ski trip is a great way to enjoy the winter scenery and breathe in the fresh mountain air.

Many trails in the Les Gets area are reserved for cross-country skiing. These marked routes will allow you to escape from the crowds and discover the beauty of this area in total safety.

Just put on your skis and follow the guide!

Don’t worry if you don’t have any equipment – you can hire everything you need in one of the many sports shops in Les Gets. What’s more, our partner Skiset will offer you a 50% discount on equipment hire, with an extra 5% off if you stay with OVO Network.

7. Spend an afternoon in an open-air playground

What could be simpler than spending an afternoon in an open-air playground to keep the children entertained? Les Gets has four large play areas for all ages:

  • The central play area for children aged from 4 to 10
  • The lakeside play area for children aged from 5 to 12
  • The Bankids play area for children aged from 2 to 6
  • The Wildkid play area for children aged from 2 to 6

What’s more – all of these places are open permanently and are free to use.

Cultural visits, sporting activities, relaxation… there are lots of alternatives to skiing when you spend your winter holidays in Les Gets! Everyone should be able to find something they love in the mountains this winter.
