From 1 – 2 June 2024, Samoëns will host the Vélo Vert Festival, a significant outdoor event celebrating mountain biking for all ages. This festival includes a wide range of activities, such as hiking, enduro, cross-country, and electric mountain bike events. Plus, it’s open to everyone!

Attendees can also explore an exhibition showcasing the latest products from various brands, with the chance to test around 2,000 items on 15 different courses.

Criterium du Dauphiné

Location: Thônes / Samoens
Date: 2 – 9th June

One of the most exciting cycling competitions in France, the Criterium du Dauphiné traverses the stunning landscapes of the Alps. As a crucial warm-up for the Tour de France, this event attracts top cyclists vying for glory.

Spectators can witness the peloton whizzing past charming villages and challenging mountain passes, offering an electrifying atmosphere that’s not to be missed.

The race passes through both Samoëns and Thônes during stages seven and eight – the final two legs of the tour, before reaching its climax at the Plateau des Glières.

Mountain of Hell

Location: Les Deux Alpes

This June, the adrenaline-fueled “Mountain of Hell” event returns to Les Deux Alpes, drawing thrill-seekers and mountain biking enthusiasts from around the globe. Renowned for its intense and exhilarating descent, this race starts at the glacier at a staggering 3400m altitude and plunges riders down nearly 2600m over a mix of snow, ice, rocks, and rugged terrain.

Spanning over 25km, participants will navigate through breathtaking alpine scenery and treacherous conditions, testing their skills and endurance to the limit. So, whether you’re a seasoned pro or an adventurous amateur, “Mountain of Hell” promises an unforgettable experience filled with high-speed excitement and unparalleled challenges in the heart of the French Alps.

Alps Epic

Location: Hautes Alpes
Date: 21 – 26 June 2024

This event is for seasoned competitors seeking a challenge, offering “La Course,” a Marathon MTB race to be taken on individually or in teams of two, or “La Rando,” a solo, untimed option. The Alps Epic VTT Marathon consists of five stages, each approximately 50 to 70km long, over one week. This “Epic” format demands strong physical and technical skills and includes comprehensive support such as racing services, logistics, and accommodation.

For those unable to commit to the full week, both packages are also available in a 2-day “Weekend” format with identical services.

The 9th edition of the Alps Epic in 2024 will coincide with the French MTB XC Marathon Championships, kicking off on Saturday, June 22, with the first stage!

UCI Mountain Bike World Series – Megève / Combloux

La Transmaurienne Vanoise by Dare2b offers seven days of exhilarating mountain biking in the stunning Haute Maurienne Vanoise, one of the most beautiful cycling regions. In recent years, the event has grown significantly and is now recognised as on of France’s top mountain biking competitions.

With over 30 years of history, the Transmaurienne Vanoise has revitalised itself over the past five years by moving to Haute Maurienne Vanoise. Additionally, routes have improved to be more enjoyable while retaining their technical challenges. This event is a true test of character but remains accessible to all, thanks to various race options.

Riders traverse breathtaking landscapes, including Mont Cenis, Fort de l’Esseillon, and the hamlet of Ecot. La Transmau’ features four modes: Hiking, Competition, Children, and Festival, ensuring everyone can join in the excitement!

Tour de France Femmes
